A Blessed Solstice To You!

Stone zodiac art and photos by Willow

Shhhh. Quiet.

Just be in the profoundly still.

Breathe. Soak in these darkest days, these meditative rays.

Our energy has turned inward; outer activity is cosmically subdued for these few precious days before we turn back to the light.

Don't resist.

Don't force yourself to keep up with The Machine.

This is nature's time clock. This is real time. At your ancient core, it is impossible to ignore, no matter what the tick-tocking clock on the wall tells you, no matter how jam-packed your schedule.

Finish what you have to finish. Gracefully clear your slate, and do it well. But don't add anything else, anything extra. There will be plenty of time for that next month, next year.

For now, be still. Take your reward of this contemplative time, this stillness, this rest, for a job well done.

As the Sun enters Capricorn December 21, marking the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere, the Moon is growing full, peaking on the zero degree Cancer cardinal point on December 22 (9:48 a.m. PST). Under this initiating Full Moon, this is a solstice of particular emotional richness, of exceptional inner illumination. This is a time of quiet soul-urgings, of ancient emotional pulls, and it's these we should be heeding and following now. These lead us into that state of grace which feels like what we call 'home.' Our true home. The source.

Venus in Scorpio, free of retrograde shadow backwash, forms a flowing trine to Neptune in Pisces at 13 degrees of the signs on December 21, an indicator that this solstice is an even stronger point of high spiritual wonder than usual. Mystical meanderings are at work in our lives, in our hearts, in our relationships, and in our contacts with the society around us. Love comes to us through strange and wonderful channels. The universe winks at us, communicates divine insights to us through interactions with others. The etheric realms are lit up, humming, singing with energy that spills out into our physical lives. The veil between dream life and waking life is thinner, more transparent, than usual this solstice, to the point that we can almost reach through one to touch the other. The dream state bleeds into the waking state, and the waking state bleeds into our dreams. The most deeply-felt and deeply-needed connections (psychic, if not physical) are being made this solstice, almost effortlessly, guided by a divine hand.

Winged messenger Mercury forms a conjunction to Jupiter at 9 degrees Sagittarius this December 21, as well. This marks a solstice-time when our conscious minds are immersed in the wonder and awe of it all. Few words are spoken; much is understood. Some fairly grand realizations and profound understandings are absorbed into our minds as if by osmosis. This is a time when our words and the information or perspectives we have to share may have a stronger impact than usual, especially when related to big picture issues. This Mercury-Jupiter conjunction in Sagittarius indicates a bit of a Cosmic Megaphone Effect as we close out this calendar year with no real requirement on our parts to speak longer or louder than usual. All that is required is the truth, the reverent truth as we stand on this Earth under these solstice skies. Grace is all around us. How remarkable it all is.

Venus in Scorpio and Addressing Socially-Accepted Addictions

Love, relationship, and society planet Venus re-enters Scorpio on December 2, following a retrograde period that spanned from October 5 to November 16.

We were taken to some deep and complex social/relational places during the retrograde, and now Venus is direct, moving full speed ahead through the sign of its detriment as we close out 2018.

Venus is moving over the wake that was kicked up during the retrograde process, and anything we experienced in relationship or with society since September 2 (when Venus first entered the retrograde shadow) may be coming up for full integration.

Venus is advancing the social/relational scene in transformative fashion as we close out this year, but in the sign of deep, dark, sometimes-disturbing emotional and psychological subtext (Scorpio), the realizations we're integrating into our relationship dynamics are not the easiest to swallow.

We're looking at things like: power and control dynamics, the role of fear in our relationships, detrimental karmic attractions, manipulation, underhanded motivations, frenemies, energy drains, abuse, mistreatment, lack of integrity, suppressed emotion, unresolved trauma, and the things the society around us tries to keep buried.

Venus is a planet that likes to keep a smiling, congenial face no matter what the conditions, but as it moves through Scorpio, that smile may turn into a snarl a time or two...

There's a lot of social/relational yuck associated with Venus in this hardcore sign, and with Venus moving direct over this socially-charged zone, we are required to address it and change it once and for all, rather than looking the other way and pretending it isn't there.

We're setting the emotional and energetic trajectory for the next eight years of our lives in the realms of relationship, social life, values, and money, and every not-quite-right dynamic we let slide has the potential to come back on us in unpleasant ways later on.

(Perfect socially-charged backdrop for the holidays, amIright?!)

Scorpio is a sign that relates to addictions, and with Venus transiting Scorpio until January 7, 2019, we're addressing some hidden addictions in ourselves, in our relationships, and in our society.

Scorpio is also a sign related to detrimental karmic patterns, like addictions, that play out generation-after-generation due to suppressed emotion, psychological damage, and unresolved trauma.

Until now.

Until us.

We make the hard stop. We draw the firm line. We say no and no and no again until we've broken through. Until it loses its charge and its draw. Until the moth no longer gives a shit about the flame...

The standard, recognized addictions in our society certainly cause enough misery and mayhem: drugs, alcohol, gambling.

But with Venus in "deep subtext" Scorpio, we're required to dig up even the socially-accepted addictions, the addictions that are allowed - that are straight-up engineered by our power structures - because they bolster and fuel the toxic and dysfunctional societies and systems within which we are existing.

I've said in the past that without coffee (or similar stimulants), there would be no consumer capitalism - at least not the rampant, go-go-go, "constant growth" model that currently exists.

And you can see how many of the socially-accepted (and socially-engineered) addictions work to reinforce this sick, soulless, and unsustainable model of society and economic production. They work to keep people content within a system that is slowly (or not-so-slowly) poisoning them.

Some of these socially-accepted addictions include:

➝ workoholism or constant "busy-ness"
➝ caffeine, sugar, and processed food addictions to fuel the workoholism
➝ obsessive accumulation (money, property, cars, etc.) or compulsive shopping
➝ habitual "social drinking"
➝ over-reliance on prescription medications
➝ co-dependency, being addicted to another person or to a relationship
➝ sex addiction or serial dating
➝ an addiction to the high of falling in love, leading to an inability to maintain a stable, long-term relationship because the high wears off, and the person gets "bored."
➝ cell phones, social media, video games, television, film, and music - the inability to remain unstimulated by one or more of these things for even a short period of time (very prevalent in the younger generations)
➝ narcissistic obsessions with physical appearance, the body, status symbols, luxury lifestyles, and fame

The roots of addiction often (not always) involve unresolved and unacknowledged trauma and grief. Often, there is a root to the trauma and grief of generations past that have been brutally exploited by the wealth- and power-holders of their day.

Two sides - that had no real beef with each other when you get right down to it - set up to slaughter each other in a manufactured construct called "war." This manufactured construct called "war" was designed to benefit those at the top of the pyramid schemes of power through the acquisition of land and resources, through the dispossession of people from the land, through the destruction of homes, businesses, and communities, through the self-extermination of the people, through the divide-and-conquer tactics that kept the people weak, unable to rise up in common force against their oppressors and dominators.

And also through the inevitable pain, grief, confusion, chaos, and coping-mechanism addictions and dysfunction that would then be passed on and passed on and passed on...

Eventually, the roots became "invisible." So many generations wanting to put it all behind them that this tyranny was placed into an "olden times" context, far removed from our current day, despite the obvious signs that it was still with us and still wreaking havoc.

And the systemic violence and poisoning of the people that continue to current day, embedded in the very structures of our societies, became "invisible," too. The violence of a corrupted (Scorpio) money system (Venus) and the corrupted (Scorpio) societal values (Venus) that go along with it became invisible. Just people going about their daily lives. Nothing to see here.

We're being poisoned by the current power structures, by the governments and corporations and financiers and Old Money bloodlines. It's in our air, in our water, in our food, in our psychic and mental environments. It's layer-upon-layer of radiation, chemicals, heavy metals, electromagnetic pollution, poisoned emotions, forced rhythms, manipulated media, artificial values, corrupted food, degraded life.

But we've also been tricked into poisoning ourselves. We've been tricked into poisoning our relationships. Parents have been tricked into poisoning their own children.

As Venus picks its way direct through the emotional/psychological landmines of the sign of Scorpio, communication and intelligence planet Mercury (currently retrograde) will be back in late Scorpio from December 1 to 12, as well.

The Mercury retrograde process (November 16 - December 6) has been strongly coloured by Neptune in Pisces, a placement associated with the invisible or unseen realms. Mercury stationed retrograde in Sagittarius in an exact square to Neptune in Pisces on November 16 - the very day Venus went direct. Neptune is currently very potent in the zodiac, stationing direct at 13 degrees Pisces on November 24.

In addition, wounded healer Chiron is extremely potent at this time, stationing direct on December 8 at 27 degrees Pisces.

The invisible, wounding dynamics, generational grief, and high collective karma associated with Chiron in late Pisces colour the Mercury direct station and the (often dark) realizations we are coming into. Mercury stations direct on December 6 at 27 degrees Scorpio in an exact trine to stationing Chiron at 27 degrees Pisces.

This combination of Scorpio and Pisces/Neptune indicates that dysfunction around invisible addictions - many with roots to unaddressed trauma and/or generational grief - will be coming up to be addressed. We will also be required to address blind spots related to the addictive nature of modern society and to the toxic social dynamics in which we are immersed.

In many ways, current, consumption-driven societies are built on these invisible addictions. The standard day is often structured around them, going from one fix to another to another, continuing under the guise of normalcy and standard routine.

Scorpio is associated with suppressed emotion, and one of the main seats of suppressed emotion in the body is the liver. In particular, suppressed anger and rage are stored there. (And honestly, if you aren't at least a little irritated with the state of things on this planet, you aren't paying very close attention...)

We have generation-after-generation of suppressed rage running through our biological systems, as well as a heaping helping of rage to process within our current moments, the rage that bubbles and boils just below the surface of day-to-day life. The rage that too-often erupts into violence and destructiveness, including the subtle emotional/psychological warfare running so rampant in human society these days.

If you look at many of the addictions that are playing out - drugs, alcohol, coffee, sugar, chocolate, processed foods, overeating (especially red meat) - they give an absolute shit-kicking to the liver. So do the roiling emotions kicked up by the toxic ways in which people are interacting with each other.

We're abusing our livers, we're abusing ourselves, and too often we're abusing each other, even in small ways, in ways that are easily shrugged off as inconsequential.

These angry livers need our attention. They need us to remove the layers of poison that are providing their daily, socially-accepted beatings.

But more importantly, we must address the toxic systems and structures that force these addictive coping mechanisms.

It's all well and good for the upper and upper-middle classes to look down on the less financially-privileged as "unhealthy" in their habits.

But poor, working class, and even many middle class people have not had the luxury of being insulated via financial privilege and social status from the most toxic and terrible conditions of these systems.

They often do not have expendable income for massages and acupuncture and therapists and energy healers and Pilates classes and organic groceries - methods used by the upper and upper-middle classes to make it through the day.

They are living in a society that expects them to work their guts out, that expects them to suffer, to literally work themselves into an early grave in exchange for the privilege of surviving.

Often, these people are doing work at which the upper and upper-middle classes would turn up their noses.

Those who haven't done working class jobs, blue collar jobs, really have no idea. Those who have not seen their friends and family and community members working themselves to death - aided by those addictive substances to get through the day - really have no idea.

The truth of the matter is: in most cases (and across most socioeconomic classes), people are not living lives of their own choosing. They're living forced lives on artificial rhythms and schedules, repugnant to a free and natural human being. Enduring this state without reprieve has highly detrimental effects.

It's the responsibility of all of us to improve conditions on this planet, and those with luxury and comfort have even more responsibility. It is the responsibility of these "luxuriating classes" to address the ways in which they are benefiting and profiting from toxic and unfair dynamics...and to create effective remedies.

We need to acknowledge the true roots of the suppressed emotion and unresolved trauma. The raging injustice and grief, passed generation-by-generation, that simmers just below the surface. We need to stop blaming ourselves and each other for set-ups that were engineered to be just this bad...and worse. We need to understand the illegitimate power structures and illegitimate power players that are creating these Hell scenarios for us on Earth. We need to stop turning it on ourselves - and on our poor livers. We need to stop turning it on each other.

What's going on stems from much higher up the pyramid scheme. It stems from all the way up at the pyramid cap, at the very highest rungs of this hierarchical shitshow. It stems from the "invisible" actions and direction of people we will never meet, of people who will never know our names. These are the so-called "elite." A glaring misnomer if ever I've heard one...

Our societies are being engineered to be this toxic, this dysfunctional, this anger-inducing, this full-on insane and inhumane.

And it continues with all those unaddressed, socially-accepted addictions providing (toxic) structure and routine to our day-to-day. It continues because the people who are benefiting from it simply go along with it. They justify it.

As lovely Venus moves through the sign most fear to experience (Scorpio), the way we love ourselves and each other, the way we love humanity and the living creatures on this planet, is to peel these layers of addiction, exposing and addressing the real root causes.

We refuse to stuff it down any longer, including with holiday meals and drinks and sweet treats. We refuse to swallow the false versions of history, the false versions of reality, that have whitewashed the real stories and protected the real culprits, the real parties responsible for this pain and dysfunction.

If we aren't working with the roots, we're just glossing over things, treating symptoms that will never truly go away, that will never really heal.

We have to support ourselves and those around us to make the changes that are needed, even if these changes seem quite radical. They seem radical only because they are so long overdue...

Venus has been in an extended opposition to Uranus throughout the retrograde process. The final exact opposition occurs November 30 on the potent anaretic (29th) degrees of Libra/Aries. Social and relational change is needed, and we're the change agents who have to make it happen. It starts with our own lives and our own relationships, including our relationship to the addictive substances that are being used to soften the pain, to deal with the dysfunction, to cope.

Use the Venus transit of Scorpio well. Address any addictions (even subtle) in yourself and in your relationships. Find healthier, kinder, more loving and honest ways to nurture those emotional roots.

Bring the deep, ancestral anger up, and validate it. It's legitimate. It's real.

But then use it as fuel to outsmart the socially-engineered traps that have been intentionally set out for us. See through the hierarchical bullshit - even when it benefits you in some way to go along with it. Refuse it. Refuse to accept the charity model as adequate. Work to change the power dynamics, creating a society and a system of currency where charity is not necessary. Refuse to take your cues from a soul-sick and damaging social order. Refuse to poison yourself, your relationships, or your community for even one more second.

Venus in Scorpio says: we deserve much better than this.

Now, we just have to demand it.

Venus transits Scorpio from December 2, 2018 to January 7, 2019.

Jupiter Square Neptune and How to Spot Controlled Opposition

So beautiful. So picture-perfect. But don't be fooled. This photo captures a very ugly underlying phenomenon: a full winter of flat, grey cloud cover (previously unheard of on the sunny prairies) produced via chemtrails and weather modification...

Cosmic Spotlight Jupiter in Sagittarius (truth) comes into range of an extended square to Neptune in Pisces (illusions, fog, deception) just as Neptune, extra-potent in the zodiac, stations direct on November 24. The Jupiter-Neptune square will first be exact on January 13, 2019, but it will be within orb and in effect from late November 2018 to mid-November 2019.

Both communication/intelligence planet Mercury (now retrograde) in Sagittarius and action/aggression planet Mars in Pisces are activating (aggravating?) this square as Jupiter comes into range.

The Sun-Mercury Rx interior conjunction at 4 degrees Sagittarius on November 27 (also conjunct Jupiter and square Neptune) brings the themes of this Jupiter-Neptune square to the forefront even more.

A long-term Jupiter-Neptune square, with both planets strong in their own signs, indicates a primary theme of determining what's real and true from what's illusory and deceptive.

Under this square, a year-long veil of fog has been dropped. Illusions will be thick. And there will be an unfortunate tendency to be taken in by, as I put it in the November 5 patron article on Jupiter in Sagittarius, "pretty manipulators, confident deceivers, and charming liars."

In light of this theme, if there's one thing - literally just one thing - I would like people to come to understand during the transit of Jupiter in Sagittarius, it is the manipulative stranglehold on the collective discourse and public mind held by controlled opposition. To this end, I offer:

How to Spot Controlled Opposition

1. The person or organization is famous, a household name (at least in certain circles), and/or is covered on mainstream media. This is a dead giveaway. People who have the real-deal information, who do the real-deal research and journalism, are suppressed, ostracized, mocked, isolated, and even murdered by the establishment. They do not rise to any sort of prominence within the public, especially with the assistance of mainstream media. They have to fight tooth-and-nail to get the truth out there amidst monstrous opposition. They are certainly not provided with large public platforms or mainstream media play, even if only as supposed "enemies of the state." Real whistleblowers are stepped on, intimidated, shut up, or killed. They don't hit CNN or CBC or BBC or Fox News. They don't hit VICE or Democracy Now or Dr. Oz. Within the pseudo-alternative media, controlled opposition agents will often have relative fame - a relatively large public platform in the hundreds of thousands or low millions. These individuals will often seem just a little too slick or a little too rehearsed to be real people.

2. Limited hangouts: a controlled opposition agent will release small amounts of insider information to the followers at various times to make them believe that "someone is doing something; someone is on top of this." This is a common technique by the power establishment of "throwing people a bone." Because the agent is releasing information that the powers-that-be would not generally want released to the public, information that makes the established order look bad, the controlled opposition agent gains legitimacy in the minds of the followers. The followers trust that this person is "one of them, on the good side, playing for the right team." However, the information being released is often partial, outdated, or of limited scope. It merely scratches the surface, never going to the real roots of the situation or calling out the real people and organizations responsible. Limited hangouts by controlled opposition agents have the effect of controlling dissenting discourse within the public. Followers hang on the controlled opposition agent's every word, waiting to be told what to think or what to do, never doing their own research or coming up with their own thoughts or ideas on the subject.

3. The controlled opposition agent will often have ties to mainstream organizations or government agencies. A controlled opposition agent is often a supposed dissenter who rejected some mainstream organization or industry in order to "tell people the truth." While true dissenters and whistleblowers do exist, they almost never gain large public platforms. The ultimate allegiance of a controlled opposition agent is with the establishment, and they may receive funding directly from related industries or organizations.

4. The controlled opposition agent creates and reinforces a strong Figurehead-Follower power dynamic. This is a hierarchical dynamic where the Figurehead sits at the top of a pyramid scheme of power with the followers gazing up in rapt devotion. This often takes the form of the "Wise Fatherly" archetype with the controlled opposition agent being looked to as the pinnacle of wisdom and the ultimate fount of information. The Figurehead is seen as the most intelligent and most important individual in the pyramid scheme and certainly receives the most attention. Any dissent or criticism is generally met with condescending head-patting or down-playing. There is no climate of intellectual equality (even though lip service may be paid to that). People often want to get closer to the Figurehead, moving up the rungs of the pyramid scheme to the inner circle. Once in the inner circle, people will defend and protect the lofty position of the Figurehead to maintain their own position.

5. The Figurehead controlled opposition agent has extreme influence on the thoughts, ideas, and speech of the followers to the point of mind control. This takes the form of hundreds of thousands or millions of followers parroting the Figurehead's exact ideas and catch phrases. (Hatefully referring to the public as “sheeple” is one that springs immediately to mind.) This phenomenon can be easily picked up on by those objectively viewing the dynamics, and it is another dead giveaway. Free thinkers do not parrot the same catch phrases and idioms at the same times as hundreds of thousands or millions of others. Independent researchers and thinkers do not obsessively focus on the pet subjects or ideas of the Figurehead to the exclusion of other, more important matters. The common denominator when seeing these types of dynamics will be exposure to one particular Figurehead.

6. The Figurehead controlled opposition agent often stirs anger, rage, or frustration in followers with no healthy outlets for those feelings. Anger and rage will often be directed toward certain groups of people as the cause of the ills. These groups may be gender-based or race-based but can also be the public at large (“the sheeple”). Massive amounts of time and energy are directed toward particularly divisive topics as well as to matters of secondary importance, skirting around the real, core issues of the times and the real individuals, organizations, and entities responsible for the harm being caused. The Hegelian dialectic is often employed to great effect. The Figurehead can also stir confusion and a sense of futility or helplessness in the followers, ensuring that followers do not take independent action (“there’s nothing we can do about it, anyway”) and that they will continue to look to the Figurehead for instruction on what to think or what to do.

These are some of the characteristics of people who act as controlled opposition. You can use these points to sniff them out. People can be used as controlled opposition consciously (with their knowledge), or they can be used unconsciously (without their knowledge). Whole movements or "scenes" can also be used as controlled opposition - maintaining establishment control over dissent and the exposing of truth by scratching the surface, appearing to allow a public platform for alternative views, but never going to the real roots of the situation or truly liberating people's minds or lives.

Mercury and Venus Station in Tandem - the Subtle Points of Human Relations Come Up for Mental Processing and Discussion

We have two planetary stations about to occur on the very same day: on November 16, love and relationship planet Venus stations direct at 25 degrees Libra, and communication and intelligence planet Mercury stations retrograde at 13 degrees Sagittarius (exactly square Neptune in Pisces).

Mercury will be retrograde from  November 16 to December 6, moving from 13 degrees Sagittarius to 27 degrees Scorpio.

Foggy and ethereal Neptune is also very powerful at this time, stationing direct November 24 at 13 degrees Pisces. Neptune provides a strong influence over the entire Mercury retrograde, a process that comes to its full conclusion on December 24, 2018 as Mercury leaves the retrograde shadow with an exact square to Neptune in Pisces.

An extended Mercury-Neptune square with Mercury retrograde in Sagittarius/Scorpio indicates a veil being dropped over our perceptions and communication that must be gradually worked with and penetrated. There's some mental pressure and challenge as we cut through the confusion and fog, finding just the right words from just the right perspectives as we verbally clear ourselves a path into 2019.

Mercury square Neptune can indicate difficulty in getting our points across succinctly and effectively. There may be some difficulty being heard or understood. People may hear what they want to hear, or they may pick up on one small point, missing the full picture. These effects may be exacerbated with Mercury transiting the sign of its detriment, Sagittarius. It's hard to sum up what we know or what we perceive, but we have to do our best with these challenging mental conditions.

Stay focused and keep working to verbally cut through the Neptunian fog because effective communication - though trickier than usual to achieve - has a great deal of "permeation power" under these aspects. Getting your point(s) across under these aspects can have quite grand ripple effects, especially in the collective. Your words can reach much further than you might have imagined and could have more sway or influence.

Mercury square Neptune indicates people may be more impressionable than usual to the words, perspectives, or ideas of others - for good or ill.

So this is a time when our words - if they are being used for good - can have "divine wings." Our words may be picked up and carried and carried and carried to just the right people who need them.

Under this square, there could be a sense of being blocked from communication or connection, being isolated in our perspectives. But people are listening. The loving higher intelligence is listening. Our words are hitting their marks. They have influence, even if it is invisible at times.

There's some weirdness related to communication under this Mercury-Neptune square and Mercury retrograde, extending through the end of 2018. Strange connections or coincidences that may be spiritual or psychic in origin. The invisible threads that connect us through time and space being plucked by a force or an intelligence beyond ourselves. A time of heightened connection and communication with the divine, the spiritual, the etheric, the dreamy realms in both waking and sleeping life.

Venus and Mercury shifting gears in tandem indicates that while our Venus retrograde relationship review period (October 5 - November 16) is now coming to a close, we still have some complex mental and verbal processing to do as far as what we've come to understand during that review.

Winged messenger Mercury will retrograde back to 27 degrees Scorpio and station direct there December 6. This activates themes related to the Mercury-Jupiter conjunction at 27 degrees Scorpio on October 29, which occurred just as Mercury entered the retrograde shadow. Mercury will be within orb of a conjunction to Jupiter, newly in Sagittarius, throughout most of the retrograde process, forming another exact conjunction on December 21 at 9 degrees Sagittarius to mark solstice.

This is an uncovering, penetrating Mercury retrograde process, drawing some hidden dynamics and some obscured emotional, psychological, and energetic subtext up to surface awareness so that this becomes part of the expressed truth. We're putting some things on the record.

The current astrological atmosphere indicates that some of the more subtle and slippery dynamics of human relationship and human society will be coming up for discussion and that we may find it challenging to get the associated issues into the social or public discourse in a meaningful way.

Again, persistence is key, while also not wasting our breath in situations or conversations that are hopelessly convoluted or aggravating. The tail-chasing energy of Mercury square Neptune can certainly produce mental fatigue and "heads spinning," so we're looking to unleash our verbal (Mercury) arrows (Sagittarius) only when we have a clear shot at the target with a good chance of making contact.

War and aggression planet Mars will be entering Pisces shortly (November 15 - December 31), forming a square to Mercury Rx at 6 degrees Sagittarius on November 26 and a conjunction to Neptune at 13 degrees Pisces on December 7. This indicates the potential for the activation of etheric or psychic subtext in ire-stirring ways. Subtle attacks that poison, erode, or undermine may have to be verbally hauled out into the physical here-and-now.

The influence of Mars on the Mercury retrograde process indicates some potentially angering or inflammatory subjects popping up that will be drawing attention to broader issues and themes. There's a bit of an edge to this stuff, but that's OK. We can work with whatever is kicked up...

Mars transiting Pisces indicates the potential for increased physical sensitivities to mood-altering (and often delectable) substances like alcohol, caffeine, sugar, and processed foods, so watch your indulgences carefully this holiday season - even though Mercury-Jupiter in Sagittarius will most likely be encouraging you to go for the gusto!

Mars moves into its own sign and crosses the birth point of the zodiac - zero Aries - on January 1, 2019, indicating fresh starts and new momentum available to us as we enter the new year.

Venus will be moving direct through the retrograde shadow from November 16 to December 17, and we're chewing on the experiences, interactions, and dynamics we experienced socially or in interpersonal relationships during the Venus retrograde process, beginning as Venus entered the retrograde shadow on September 2, 2018.

Mercury and Venus will continue their tandem action in early December: Mercury Rx re-enters one end of the sign of Scorpio at 29 degrees while Venus direct re-enters the other end of Scorpio at zero degrees (December 1/2). Mercury will stop at 27 degrees Scorpio and go direct again. Venus will travel through the full sign of Scorpio.

Venus re-entering Scorpio, the sign of its detriment, indicates that we're going down for one last death roll, combing the murk of human relationships and human society one last time as we close out 2018. Venus in Scorpio can be highly-charged and highly-karmic, so be prepared for some social/relational grease fires or tension, some air to be cleared, some grievances to be released.

Relationship planet Venus has been in a long-term opposition to status quo-challenger Uranus throughout its retrograde process and forms a final exact opposition to Uranus on the potent 29th degrees of Libra/Aries on November 30.

The changes we need in relationships and in society in general hinge on these points of social/relational tension. They're purposeful. So harness the energy of the charged social arenas as fuel for your own process during the transit of Venus through Scorpio (December 2, 2018 - January 7, 2019), and make your changes. This goes pretty deep.

We're clearing out shoddy treatment, not-quite-right dynamics, and boring, old sticking points in our relationships, and we're changing things in ways that empower ourselves and others.

Venus leaves detrimental ole Scorpio on January 7, 2019, forming a "Conjunction of the Benefics" with Jupiter at 16 degrees Sagittarius on January 22 that will also be in tight square aspect to Neptune in Pisces.

Following with the themes, Yerevan and I had a conversation recently on the Dark Moon podcast where we talked about some of these hidden dynamics, in particular from our perspectives as professional female intuitive astrologers and readers. You can listen to our conversation here:
