Led By the Deep-Down Depths of Our Hearts During This Sizzling Hot (And Historical) Leo Season

The Sun and Mercury have just entered Leo, the sign of the rock star, the artist, and the local celeb, and these bodies form their exterior conjunction today on the zero degree of Leo (1:23 p.m. CST), squared by the Moon in Scorpio tonight (10:04 p.m.). 

This Sun-Moon square marks a First Quarter Moon that is absolutely bursting with creative potential, and things have only just begun...

The fiery and passionate Leo influence doesn't fully let up until early October when Venus moves back into Virgo (October 8).

The Sun and Mercury in early Leo join Greater Benefic Jupiter (expansion, wisdom, benefits, luck) in late Leo, while Lesser Benefic Venus (love, relationship, values, money) prepares to retrograde into the sign once again on July 31. 

This concentration of bodies in Leo indicates that things are about to get a whole lot more rock-and-roll. 

Leo is flashy, bold, confident, stylin'. 

Leo has star power, even if it's just local celebrity.

  

Leo is about the tremendous power of art and music and creativity and style and fun and personality and pizzazz to join us all, beaming, at the heart.

It's the power of an old drinking song, it's the power of an old gospel song, it's the power of an old classic that everyone knows the words to.

Leo is hot, there's no doubt about it. 

Leo has sizzle, and squaring Scorpio, that sizzle is enough to make one weak at the knees. Once masculinity and sexuality planet Mars enters Leo on August 8, joining the Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter, we're in full-on heartthrob territory. We're in love with ourselves, with our lives, with our friends, families, and lovers. 

This love carves out your heart, takes full possession of it. It's almost too much. But it can never be enough.

It will be impossible not to follow our hearts and our passions this summer with so much Leo energy involved, squaring Saturn in "can't deny reality" Scorpio. With Saturn involved, some strict restraint will be necessary, to be certain. There will be many instances when we have to play our cards close to our chests. But we're boiling inside. We have the fever. And we'll eventually have to let it out.

This could get very interesting.

Jupiter is in late Leo, on the final weeks of its year-long transit of the sign, and the time is ripe.

Greater Benefic Jupiter doesn't roll back into Leo for another 11 years (2026). Lesser Benefic Venus will not be retrograde in Leo again while Jupiter transits Leo during your lifetime. This extended interaction between the benefic planets makes this Leo season one for the history books.

Believe in the power of your own creativity, your own style, your own personality, your own heart. It's dripping with potency.

With the bodies in Leo working on the square to Saturn in late Scorpio, the creative fertility of this Leo season (July 22 - August 23) is almost explosive. Things are ripe-to-bursting. Things long dormant are coming back to life.

As some readers know, I have been trying my hand at Plutonic punk gardening for the past four years. You can read more about this year's efforts at the end of this article.

For three years, I've had puny gardens. The first year, I got no rain. The second year, I got no direct sunlight. The third year (last year) was the flood that consumed almost my whole town.

But this year:

 

This year, I've have enough lettuce to feed myself, my parents and sister, my cousin, two friends, six seniors at the seniors complex, and some of their family members! I will have enough vegetables stored in the freezer to last two years, more than likely.

Yesterday, on another lettuce run, I stepped out of the car and the ground was alive with masses of little frogs jumping every which way. Frogs are considered a fertility symbol, and this, to me, was another indicator of the fertility and big creative potential of this special summer.

We're painting our lives and our world in bold new colours this summer and fall, led by the fevered and passionate fury of our hearts. This is catalytic creative power, spurring reactions and changes in whatever it touches. We could not possibly foresee the full effect. The ripple effects go on and on and on...

With Venus stationing retrograde on the zero degree of Virgo (July 25), we are being asked to determine precisely what we need to create: in our lives, in our selves, in our relationships, in our social settings, in our communities, in our world.

And with the squares to Saturn in Scorpio, we need to create certain things now. We need certain avenues and outlets for our passions. We need to inject more fun, more style, more heart, more sizzle, more sass, more rock-and-roll into our lives and social scenes.

This is not frivolous stuff. True art and creation are not frivolous things. This is a deep soul need, a need for creative propulsion and advancement beyond old, stagnant scenarios, relationship dynamics, and ways of being. 

We need to release some of the old energy we've been carrying, and the only way we can do it is by being the full and true works of art that we are. 

The way we do it is by taking some calculated risks, opening some rich new facets of our personalities, connected right down deep to the soul. The way we do it is by taking calculated creative risks, putting our personal stamp on things, injecting our personalities and style into the world around us, creating a life we love to live amidst collective chaos and difficulty, while the walls crumble around us, while we face collective annihilation.

This is the type of creative power that grabs you by the deepest depths of who you are, singing it or sculpting it or saying it or painting it in a way that makes it all undeniable.

We are helpless in the face of the tremendous creative power and potential of this summer of 2015. And we love it.

Create a life you love to live so that you would choose to do nothing different if this turned out to be our last days. 

There is a New Moon in Leo at 21 degrees on August 14, followed by the Sun and Venus forming their interior conjunction at 22 degrees Leo on August 15. The percolating creative energy simply explodes into new life, new love, and new beauty at this point. 

Mercury will be in Leo until entering Virgo August 7.

Jupiter leaves Leo for Virgo on August 11.

The Sun will be in Leo until entering Virgo on August 23.

Venus will be in Leo July 31 - October 8. 

Mars will be in Leo August 8 - September 24.

Communication and intellect planet Mercury entered Leo July 31, joining the Sun and Jupiter in the leonine sign of heart, performance, and creative expression.

With three bodies plus Black Moon Lilith now transiting Leo (joined by Venus in Leo August 12), we are really starting to tap into the creative fire and the expansiveness of heart indicated by Jupiter in Leo.

Things are getting bigger. Things are getting bolder. People who have been holding back can hold back no longer. We're able to open up those hearts and express some things that have been waiting until just this time to be expressed. We're stirring the fires of love, passion, creation, artistry, style, humour, and fun in ways that we've waited 11 years - since Jupiter's last transit of Leo August 2002 to August 2003 - to access.

Jupiter Enters Leo and the Rock & Roll in Our Hearts & Souls Will Never Die

The biggest planet in the solar system, Jupiter, entered the sign of big personalities, big star power, and big creative endeavours, Leo, early on July 16 where it will remain until entering Virgo on August 11, 2015.

Expansion planet Jupiter entering the sign of the actor, the artist, the comedian, and the child-at-heart indicates a year of sexy, sizzling style, playfulness, pizzaz, and parties. Big colour. Big drama.

Most of all, it indicates a year of more fun, and most everyone could use more of that amidst the various hellrides we've been on in recent years (decades, centuries, and millenia).

We have a deep wellspring of "humour as precious, healing elixir" to draw from as Jupiter transits Leo, and black humour gets us through even the toughest and tightest of spots - where we are now.

Just when we think we're down and out, when we feel absolutely crushed under the weight of oppressive circumstances, we find something that tickles our fancy. We see something that makes us smile - maybe a child, maybe a pet, maybe a comical situation. We find the joke or the self-deprecating comment that sets us free. We find the buried flame and coax it back to life. This is the grace that Jupiter in Leo bestows upon us this year. These are our blessings: the ability to laugh in the faces of power-hungry dickheads and their needless, idiotic cruelty. The ability to mock and satirize those who falsely believe they can snuff out our flames with violence, hatred, and inhumanity.

We are buoyed throughout this year by the continual realization of how fucking funny human beings are. We're buoyed by the realization of how funny we are, how funny our friends are. We amuse ourselves and our friends this year, rejecting the shallow corporate versions of celebrity and entertainment.

With Jupiter transiting Leo, the inspiration to create is upon us. The inspiration to create something BIG is upon us.

And the Leo New Moon at 3 degrees conjunct Jupiter in Leo on July 26 (4:42 p.m. CST) officially kicks this year of creative expansion off with a bang. 

Jupiter in Leo reminds you to be the star that you are, the star that you were put on this Earth to be, because no one else can do it like you can.

But with Saturn transiting Scorpio (not leaving the sign entirely until September 2015), resources and energy are oh-so-limited. This means: what we create had better be good. It had better cut to the chase. It had better tap the deepest and richest veins of soul. It had better be sizzling hot, meaningful, and influential in creating the change we need to see on this spinning wheel. It had better say something that's aching to be said. Anything less is a waste of limited resources and creative juice.

Create a path to a future you'd like to live through on this planet. Create the new-era interpersonal dynamics that bring us into a better world.

We won't get the big reality check on the "catalytic relevancy" front until the very end of Jupiter's transit of Leo, when it (along with Venus in Leo) squares Saturn in Scorpio at 28 degrees of the signs on August 3, 2015. So it's in our best interests to hone our creative expressions to the most white-hot relevant and meaningful all along the way...

Relevant art, expression, and creativity can change the world. This is the potential we hold in our hearts and hands this year. 

But self-flagellating, useless, and/or strictly-for-profit art, expression, and creativity help kill the world. Creativity without soul, without catalytic relevance to the times, is dead, pointless, unnecessary. It's a vanity project. It's a cardboard cut-out. Throw a match on it.

Big egos without even bigger benevolence are a gargantuan bore.

This year, we work to stay on the most cutting-edge, relevant side of things. This is the only place we want to be.

We start to tap our deepest and most catalytic creative motivations as Jupiter in Leo moves into a square to Mars in Scorpio, exact on August 1, 2014. We want the guts and the glory and the truest soul-stuff, and we eliminate all else coming out of this square. We are driven by our motivations for change, change, the deepest and most necessary of change.    

Rock and roll is alive in our hearts and souls this year in more immediate ways than usual. The force of creation propelled through us can never die. It lives on and on and on without end.

Show this planet what sings through you. Show your ballsy, beautiful rebellion to those hierarchical powers-that-be who want to exterminate your shining light, who want to make you the same as everyone else. Jupiter in Leo forms a gorgeous, edgy fire trine to Uranus in Aries that is in effect for most of the year-long transit. This trine will be exact September 25, 2014, March 3, 2015, and June 22, 2015.

We are now rushing heart-first into this year of creative revolution, into this year of collective, creative rebel yell. 

Let's rock this little planet. Let's show them how it's done.
