Mars Direct! Making Our Preferable Future Vision For Life On This Planet Into A Concrete Reality

Mars is poised for direct action at 28 degrees Capricorn tomorrow morning (7:05 a.m. PDT), and we shoot into the workweek on a serious mission...

With Mars concentrated in late Capricorn until re-entering airy Aquarius September 10, we're masters of our own work, our own status, and our own domains, and we're looking to put that mastery into concrete action in immediate ways.

See a problem? Solve it.
See a loose end? Tie it.
See a weakness? Strengthen it.
See an opportunity? Take it.

Mars, exalted in Capricorn, is associated with competition and setting oneself apart, and with Mars in the latest degrees of Capricorn until September 10, intensifying these qualities could put you ahead of the competition:

- responsibility
- respectfulness
- professionalism
- efficiency/time-saving
- leadership with vision
- management skills, especially while under pressure
- maintaining a stiff upper lip, even within trying circumstances
- focusing on the bottom line, on the dollars and cents
- being willing to work longer and harder than the next person

Mars Enters the Retrograde Shadow of a Highly Uranian Retrograde Period

Action planet Mars, exalted in Capricorn, is currently activating the Uranus in Aries - Pluto in Capricorn square (yes, it's STILL within orb) ahead of a very Uranian (unpredictable, erratic, surprising, forward-thinking) Mars retrograde period from June 26 to August 27, 2018.

We're moving into a period of "goals assessment" - determining which goals we have successfully met, which goals must now be released or re-jigged, and which new goals must be committed to at this time.

With most of the Mars retrograde occurring in Aquarius, we are focused on forward-thinking and far-reaching goals that propel us into a preferable future. We're looking to advance the play on multiple fronts (personally and collectively), turning our ideas and concepts (Aquarius) into action (Mars).

Mars goes retrograde once every two years, and in basic terms, Mars retrogrades involve reviewing the personal trajectory we have taken in the prior two-year period, determining how effective our actions and ways have been.

During these retrogrades, we re-visit our use of will, desire, motion, physical energy, aggression, and sexuality, and we also make adjustments as we set off on a new two-year action and goal cycle.

We re-visit what we wanted and whether we achieved it, but we also review the continuing value of certain goals altogether. What we once wanted may not be what we want now. Mars retrograde periods give us a chance to update our goals, our trajectories, and our methods for achieving our goals.

Mars forms a conjunction to Pluto at 21 degrees Capricorn on April 26, and we are asked to get smarter, more streamlined, and more cunning in the ways that we fight (Mars) corruption and general bullshit (Pluto) on this planet, particularly in the patriarchal hierarchies and institutions (Capricorn) of the day.

Mars in Capricorn now slowly forms a dynamic square aspect to revolutionary Uranus as Uranus enters the new sign of Taurus on May 15, and to be quite frank, all bets are off.

We are heading into a very Uranian Mars retrograde period this summer which will be followed by a very Uranian Venus retrograde period this fall.

Mars Direct! An Unearthing of Previous Articles to Fortify Our New Directions

Well, our boy Mars is just about to go direct at 23 degrees Scorpio on June 29 (4:39 p.m. PDT), initiating a new two-year cycle related to goals, personal direction and trajectory, desires, physical energy, and...sex!

I'm offering a couple older articles here so that interested parties can have this perspective fresh in their minds as they move forward, along with Mars.

Astrology is like fine wine or an expertly-crafted violin - it often improves with time. The astrological information often makes more sense and gives clarified perspective with a little distance on it. So in light of that, I offer these articles as Mars completes its retrograde period and begins moving forward again through the zodiac.

Please note: Willow's Web Astrology patrons have already received these articles. They were also previously available for purchase on the blog, so some non-patrons may have already purchased them, as well. Please check your email box before purchasing.

The first article was released February 12, 2016 and is titled, "Mars Retrograde 2016: a Re-Direction of Passions" - $9.50

The second article was released March 19, 2016 and talks about the Saturn retrograde in Sagittarius. This article is called "Entering a Period of Beneficial Restructuring" - $6.50

You may recall that action planet Mars stationed retrograde April 17, 2016 in conjunction to taskmaster Saturn, drawing the energy of that conjunction into the retrograde process and into our next two years on Planet Earth.

Mars and Saturn will finally make their exact conjunction on August 24 at 9 degrees Sagittarius, indicating a check-in point as far as our personal trajectories, goals, and physical mojo are concerned. New directions, goals, and desires should be solidified or shored up in some way around that time.

New life and new energy are coming as we close out this month of June. Certain areas are being resurrected. True feelings and desires are being revealed. And Mars is stirring the pot in ways that the pot desperately needs to be stirred

Mars is now stationing direct in quincunx aspect to Uranus and Ceres in Aries, indicating that it may be quite radical and/or shocking breaks from previous trajectories that are nourishing and validating to us now. We're busting out in new ways over the next two years, based on who we are and what we desire now, while also resolving some long-standing and very sticky karmic issues.

The next two years won't always be pretty. In fact, some of it will be pretty raw! But there is no energy in the same old karmic set-ups. There is no life in the holding patterns.

We're moving to where the life is, to where the energy is, to where the inspiration lies.

And with this martial quincunx energy carried forward for the next two years, there is not much that can stand in our way...

Mars Retrograde 2016: a Re-Direction of Passions

Mars is referred to as the action planet, relating to physical energy, personal direction, goals, will, anger, aggression, sex drive, sexuality, the way we move, and the way we do things, in general.

One of the primary astrological events for 2016 is a Mars retrograde period from April 17 to June 29 when Mars will appear to re-trace its steps in backward motion through the zodiac.

Mars retrogrades occur once every two years. With the upcoming retrograde period from 8 degrees Sagittarius to 23 degrees Scorpio, the path we are actively carving through life will be changing - or at the very least, deepening - in 2016, becoming more fully aligned with our personal belief systems, faith, and truth.

Both Sagittarius and Scorpio are known as quite passionate signs, and this Mars retrograde period indicates a time of “passions directed and re-directed.”

In Sagittarius, Mars is actively seeking meaningful experiences that boost inspiration, exhilaration, joy, and faith, as well as deepening our knowledge of the truth.

In Scorpio, Mars desires to know stone, cold reality, right down to its deep, dark (and sometimes ugly) core. Mars in Scorpio leaves no stone left unturned.

Full Moon in Leo and a Sun-Mars Opposition Mark the Official End of the Previous Two-Year Mars Cycle

And a cheer goes up across the land! Or it would if we weren't so exhausted and/or emotionally wrecked from the past two years of life on Earth.

I will attempt a post here to mark the astro events of January 29. I'm still having Cipro issues, but I'll give it my best...

The Sun in Aquarius and Mars retrograde in Leo oppose each other just after noon (MT) tomorrow at 10 degrees of the signs. This marks the point in the Mars retrograde process when we have officially discharged the remnants of the previous Mars cycle (December 2007 - January 29, 2010) which began when Mars retrograded in Cancer.

The Moon enters Leo Friday morning and moves all day to a conjunction with Mars Rx at 10:20 p.m. and then to an opposition to the Sun in Aquarius an hour later at 11:18 p.m. This is the yearly Leo Full Moon and, conjunct Mars retrograde just as it opposes the Sun, is an indicator of the emotional culmination of the previous Mars cycle.

This Full Moon is also an indicator that we are ready to let our hearts be our guides as we move forward now. We're ready to fully commit in this way, ready to fight (where we have to) for the right to be self-directed, following our heart's lead. Opposite the Sun in Aquarius, this infusion of heart-level Leonine direction and action is a shift from the very intellectual Aquarius energy we've been used to over the past while.

The difficulty of the past two years, especially, has left us stripped down and desiring to connect at a purely loving level with the people who share the same love we have inside. Horrific difficulty and devastation will do that to ya. At this point, love is all that matters.

Whatever goals we have been working on since the end of 2007, especially related to gaining emotional strength and independence, moving on from old family patterns and connecting our efforts and wills fully to our emotional and soul-level guidance have come to a point of completion, and I hope we have fully achieved our goals on this front.

Last summer's double New Moons in Cancer combined with the triple eclipse season (in Capricorn, Cancer and Aquarius) really intensified our efforts and challenges to find new emotional anchors in light of shifting consciousness about the way forward from here. That eclipse season was a very emotional time full of (for me, at least) intense homesickness and a feeling that I didn't know where (if anywhere) I belonged. I've still got those feelings to a certain extent, although they are not as desperate now as they were then.

The events of the most recent eclipses (in Cancer on December 31, 2009 and Capricorn January 15, 2010) were also emotionally devastating for me and many, many others around the world.

My grandmother (who was overdosed horribly with morphine in the hospital around this time) was talking about how she felt absolutely flattened, and I felt the same way. The past two months have left many feeling extremely vulnerable, helpless and at the mercy of the events and energies swirling around. On a grand scale, the people of Haiti are experiencing this with the horrific devastation of the earthquake and the loss of, some reports say, 500,000+ people. Half a million souls leaving the Earth in such a sudden and unexpected way and the grief and desperation of those who survived has an effect on us all, especially those who are very energetically sensitive.

Tomorrow, we find ourselves at the official discharge point of the previous two-year Mars cycle. The directions we initiated two years ago have garnered their results. We've gotten our emotional sea legs under us as best we can (although it certainly doesn't feel like it a lot of the time), and we now shift the focus of our personal desires and exertion of wills from inner goals (Cancer) to outer ones (Leo). We now move into a cycle related to our creative goals and desires, finding new direction in light of what we now understand to be the situation on this little planet. Mars in Leo Retrograde: Reclaiming Our Primal Creative Force in the Face of Shifting Structures and Changing Paradigms

The shifting structures and changing paradigms pick up speed now making it even more crucial that we are connected to love and to our true heart's direction. 2010 will see two more Saturn-Pluto squares and the final two (of five) Saturn-Uranus oppositions. Dates here. Lots of challenging movement and shake-ups. We're going to need all the love (especially self-love) we can find to guide us through.

And just as we release the old Mars cycle and enter a new one, Saturn Rx in Libra makes its second of three squares to Pluto in Capricorn, exact January 31 at 2:27 p.m. More shifting and morphing of power structures within business and personal relationships, done a bit more on the down low with Saturn retrograde.

With Mars in Leo, we are deeply desiring joy and fun in our lives and in our creations now, however that may come. We need to know, and to experience, that life can still be exciting, inspiring and loving. That it and we are still meaningful. That we're still loved. We need to take comfort and solace in the things that bring us and those around us delight and will need to throughout the next years. This is the balance to the glut of Aquarius energy.

We're living in times that are often bizarre, frightening and traumatic, aware as never before of possibilities for the future of humanity that are difficult, often impossible, to accept.

Pluto in Capricorn has begun to rip the mask off the sociopathic corporate oligarchy masquerading as elected public officials. The collusion between and merger of government and Big Business are attempting to enter the final stages, and real public will has never been further from the minds and decision-making processes of the people at the top of the pyramid-scheme hierarchies.

With Chiron, Neptune and Jupiter in Aquarius, we saw the rise of technology as God and Atlantean throwbacks hell-bent on forcing history to repeat - bringing about the destruction of humans and human societies through the arrogant misuse and abuse of science and technology. Trying to control something as fundamental as nature - imagine the arrogance! The dark side of Aquarius. Yes, it exists.

Many intuitives have been honing in on the HAARP's activities and the use of technology designed to manipulate weather since the horrific earthquake in Haiti. The misuse of energy itself - the symbol for Aquarius being two energy currents.

The President of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, has spoken out accusing the United States of launching an earthquake-inducing weapon off the coast of Haiti and triggering the earthquake. Chavez says the weapon was designed with Iran in mind. Whether you think this is hogwash, world leaders (and he's not the only one) are bringing the misuses of technology to the public's attention. What was once science fiction is now reality.

The destructive hidden agendas so often attached to foreign aid and assistance these days are also (finally) coming to collective awareness (IMF and World Bank shenanigans included). We're reminded of the fact that Haiti is sitting on a reserve of oil, a substance the United States is willing to do anything to gain control over. Here is an article by journalist John Pilger about just that called "The Kidnapping of Haiti."

So we've filled our brains with information through the Aquarian technological mediums and now, in light of all that, Mars in Leo asks: Knowing all that you have come to know, what do you desire to create? And do you have the courage to follow the direction of the love in your heart? What will bring joy and love not only to you personally but to your fellow human beings and to your communities? How can you direct your personal creative power and energy in the ways most relevant within the context of the times in which we are living?

We'll be keeping the new directions of our creative endeavours close to our chests until Mars gets back up to speed direct and the Sun transits Aries in March-April. Listen closely until then as Mars retrogrades and slowly re-directs us in certain ways.

Jupiter has now left Aquarius and entered Pisces, and we have an infusion of spiritual faith, love and truth to guide us in this process of determining new creative direction - just in the nick of time! I must say, all that Aquarius energy without the benefit of Piscean integration was wearing on my last nerve. All those excessively masculine Atlantean throwback versions of reality and of the future were really getting me down.

But thankfully Jupiter is now in the feminine water sign of spiritual understanding and communion, Pisces, to show us the ultimate truth of our energetic connection. To show us that what's good and right and loving and compassionate can never be destroyed or defeated. And that we can never be truly disconnected from that force so long as we live it ourselves as our primary guidance.

I don't think we have an easy road ahead of us with this whole Aquarius shift thing. As I've written before, there are far too many people trying to bulldoze full speed ahead into Aquarius without first learning, understanding and integrating the necessary Piscean lessons and wisdom. Far too much arrogance and detachment from the suffering of fellow human beings (especially among the imbalanced masculine) and far too little understanding of the real, authentic spiritual nature of our existences.

Jesus Christ is probably the most well-known Piscean figure, and we're still playing out that story in many respects - people being murdered, tortured, ostracized and abused because their spiritual natures and ideas about peace, kindness, cooperation, love and compassion threaten the status quo.

Chiron, the wounded healer, ingresses into Pisces in May of this year and will be there for the next seven-ish years - just as the "official" Aquarian Era gets underway. I think this is an indication of the difficulty and pain that will come about as those who hold true Piscean wisdom and understanding watch arrogant and destructive people continue to wreak their havoc and sacrifice (Pisces) human lives for increased power and control.

However, Neptune will also be at home in Pisces (the sign of its rulership) during this time (April 2011 - January 2026), so spiritual reinforcements will be flooding onto the planet full force to get us over the hump. We'll be supported through any great trials with this influx of loving spiritual energy and guidance, and the Chiron in Pisces wounds will experience healing. Our spiritual connections will be very immediate and easily accessed during Neptune in Pisces. We'll need all the help we can get, but tip the scales we will.

One of the most beautiful and comforting lessons Pisces teaches us is that we never struggle alone, no matter how isolated and desolate we may feel. So many good people before us (and with us now) have carried the burden and shared the effort, and we're in it together, come what may. Always have been, always will be. We can take comfort in and find great strength through the good people in our lives. And know that the truth - what we know in our hearts and souls - can never be stamped out (though they sure try). And for those of us traipsing through physical lives on this planet at this point in human history, there is assistance when we need it. There is unconditional love. There are reinforcements aiding us at every turn. Spirit whispers its love for us every day in so many different ways and tells us which way to go when we find ourselves at dark forks in the road.

The loving spirit of the billions of people who have shared and continue to share the struggle to uphold what is right and good is with us always, guiding us, assisting us and cheering us on. And that force is not to be messed with. I pity the fool who tries.

Willow's March 2008 Astro Perspective

March looks to be an action-packed month, full of unexpected karmic events simultaneously completing and discharging the past while catapulting us into the future and a new way of doing things. It’ll likely seem a little more subtle than all that, but you know…the theme is there. There are a lot of indicators of new beginnings, which is a huge relief after dealing with the often arduous Mars Retrograde cycle, opposing Pluto, over the past six months. Not to mention, a Mercury Retrograde cycle ruling Mars for the past month-and-a-half. What we’ve been dealing with since the Fall Equinox finally wraps up this month, and we start to make outward progress toward our goals.

Mercury breaks into new territory March 9, moving out of its direct shadow. Mars is going direct, full speed ahead, and moves into Cancer just after midnight on March 4. Mars is still going over territory from its retrograde (and won’t enter new degrees of Cancer until April 4), but it’s increasingly motivated and starting to sense new ground just up ahead. The ball is rolling, and our bodies and minds should be functioning together better than ever. Firing on all cylinders!

March 6 marks the final opposition of Mars and Pluto. We’ve been through a sometimes trying six-month process realigning our personal will and goals with evolutionary will and goals. While Mars and Pluto were in Gemini and Sagittarius, the oppositions had to do with aligning our everyday communication, interactions, identities and goals with our deepest personal beliefs and truth. Now that Mars is in Cancer and Pluto is in Capricorn, the alignment shifts to home versus career structures and soul and emotions versus material progress and public role.

Mars in Cancer means our personal desire is focussed on a new place to call home. We want to feel at ease and at home in our lives, as if we’ve really found our place. We desire comfort and security in both our home and career situations. We want to be able to honour our soul’s direction as it guides us to the right people and situations - ones that feel good to us, as we are now. We want to be ourselves, emotions and all, and to feel accepted for who we are by the people and within the structures in our lives. With Mars in Cancer, our souls are leading the way, and our emotions are guiding the actions we take and the new directions we choose. Mars is not so, so happy with this Cancerian way of doing things. It likes to take direct action (like, right NOW), whereas, Cancer is more indirect, sensing and feeling it out before taking action and making decisions. Caution takes precedence over the “do now, think later” style Mars is at home with. But because Mars has been tied up in a looooong opposition cycle with Pluto, it should have a spring in its step just sensing the new territory up ahead and breaking away from Pluto’s heavy influence. As long as we can accept the slightly more indirect way of getting things done with Mars in Cancer, we should be making more outward progress than we have in a while.

With the last sweep of this Mars-Pluto opposition cycle taking place at 0 degrees of Cancer and Capricorn, this is the very, very beginning of a complete 16-year transformation of our workplace structures, our public roles and our concepts of material progress and success. (See the February Astro Perspective for more Pluto in Capricorn analysis.) We’re out to make things feel better, so that those Capricornian things are better aligned with our soul’s development. We don’t want to have such a huge divide between what we do to make money and what makes us feel good on a deep-down, soul level. We don’t want to feel trapped by the structures we create and deadened by our role within those structures. Creating real, meaningful change here (instead of just changing a few things around the edges of the current structures) is going to be a long process, to be sure, and it will have it’s difficult points, but here we are at 0 degrees of two cardinal (leadership and initiative) signs! We’re right at the very beginning! One of the many new beginnings happening this March.

The Sun is in Pisces for the first 19 days of March, leading up to the Spring Equinox when it heads into Aries, the sign ruling new beginnings. For the first two-thirds of the month, we can sense that spring is just up ahead, but we also know that we’re not quite out of the woods yet.

Pisces is the sign of spiritual connection, the subconscious, dreams, dissolution and self-sabotage. It’s also the sign of faith and surrender, so while the Sun is in this sign, we have to consciously lose resistance and give in to the universe’s flow. It’s the same way that we have to just allow spring to come in its own time. If we struggle and resist the last days of winter, or even worse, jump the gun and think spring is there before it really is, it just makes things miserable. Pisces is the sign where all signs that came before it dissolve into one connected energy, so our challenge here is to dissolve our concerns about being in charge of the direction of our lives (we’ve done all we can at this point) and allow the divine intelligence that guides every moment. This is not always easy because we live in a time when people desire complete control. “Take charge of your life!” is the prevailing mantra. Of course, properly exercising free will is a big part of living a successful life, but Pisces, and especially Pisces connecting with Uranus as it does this month, is there to show us in no uncertain terms that we’re not in charge of it all. Even the best laid plans can be turned upside down in an instant by unexpected events thrown our way - an accident, a surprise pregnancy, meeting the person of your dreams, being laid off from your job, having a spiritual revelation, whatever. Anything that seems to come out of nowhere to suddenly change your direction and outlook. The universe’s intelligence has a plan of its own, and Sun in Pisces is a time period when we have to let go and allow the waters to carry us where they will. Like going down a water slide, there’s no way to change your direction once you’ve been set in motion. You have to just hold on and see where it takes you. This month feels a lot like that to me.

The New Moon on March 7 brings the Sun and Moon together in Pisces, conjuncting Uranus, planet of sudden change, revolution, lightning-bolt revelations, higher intelligence and genius. This is an indicator that this month is going to take all the faith and surrender we can muster. The combination of Pisces and Uranus makes for a bit of a wild and woolly time, full of unexpected events designed to complete certain karmic situations related to the past (and even to past incarnations - if you believe in that sort of thing) and launch us into a new framework. Pisces is already notorious for these themes. “Beware the Ides of March” is a statement of caution about March 15 and the karmic craziness that was known to come to head at that time. So with Uranus involved so closely this March, things could feel a little chaotic and overwhelming. If we struggle against what is happening or try to control it, we could go under! The theme is completions, readying us for the new - clearing away things that are no longer necessary and allowing and accepting the changes to our situation. Keeping an eye on this process while making our way through this month could really help. Situations will come up, asking us to prove that we’ve learned from the past and are ready to move on. We’ll be forced to face any subconscious fears that are in danger of sabotaging us in the future. The key, I think, is in choosing a new way to deal with old situations. When dynamics come up that seem all-too-familiar, don’t be pulled into old patterns of relating. Go consciously through whatever comes up. Choose to face things head on and relate in a way that feels right to who you are now. Move out of habitual responses. Facing the same old karmic traps and choosing to react to them in a more personally responsible way is the path out. If we’re able to successfully navigate these situations, we can demand our independence from the idea of “karmic debt” and free ourselves up for new scenarios. Pisces is one of the most karmic signs, and clearing and completing karma (as in, learning the lessons and changing ourselves and our behaviour so that we don’t attract more of the same) is now imperative as we step fully out of the Piscean Age and into the Aquarian.

Pisces relates to warm and fuzzy stuff like unconditional love, spiritual connection and guidance, and divinely-inspired artistic expression. But it also relates to not-so-happy topics such as having the wool pulled over our eyes, the ways we habitually screw ourselves over, illusion and delusion, seeing things with rose-coloured glasses, escapism, drug and alcohol abuse, weak will, refusal to face reality. With Mercury and Venus involved this month (and opposing Saturn in Virgo mid-month), we’re going to be faced with relationships not being what we had hoped, ideas that were really just pipe dreams, and ways that we forgive people for crappy behaviour and then let them back into our lives to shit on us all over again (standard “family member of a junkie“ stuff). Any “junkie” of any type that we keep letting back into our lives reflects some dynamic we’re sort of addicted to, too. So we’ll be clearing out those dynamics, facing the reality of situations instead of banking strictly on potential, and choosing a stronger point from which to interact, moving out of the habitual, karmic way.

Pisces rules dreams and they will probably be a big part of the past-clearing process this month. (Dreams involving water, especially.) Our dreams will be deep, pulling up things that we haven’t consciously thought about in a while. This allows for things stuck in our subconscious (that have the possibility of derailing us) to come to conscious awareness to be faced and dealt with. This can create a spacey, dream-like nature to our waking life where the themes of our dreams come up in everyday living. Pisces helps us to see the connection between subconscious and conscious, dream life and waking life, so that we can understand what the universe (and we, ourselves) is trying to communicate to us and work with that connection. Again, the theme will be clearing the subconscious and completing karmic cycles.

I’ve noticed a lot of my dreams lately have to do with facing my high school bullies. But this time (with adult consciousness), when they start harassing me and putting me down, I tell them off straight away! I don’t internalize the brutal things they have to say about me. I face them down instead of trying to “ignore it.” (Man, telling someone to just ignore intolerable situations is the worst advice ever!) Not only do “telling off the bullies” dreams feel good, but they also tell me that I’ve learned what I needed to learn from those bullying experiences - how to stand up for myself, how not to put myself at someone’s mercy in the first place, how to demand proper respect and treatment from the people and situations around me, and how to get rid of the people and situations who would treat me badly.

We're also beginning Pluto in Capricorn’s work. Transforming the structures of our society beyond the mean-spiritedness and soul-crushing homogeneity that currently exist. Creating a system that works for everyone, where diversity and variety are built into the system so that everyone can have a meaningful place within it. Being successful because of our individuality/who we are, not in spite of it. Let’s face it - not everyone fits into the corporate 8 to 5 lifestyle. Not everyone can do physical labour jobs. The answer to homelessness and poverty isn’t to just “go out and get a job.” Getting a minimum wage job doing work one hates is a short-term solution, at best. Right now, people being unable to fit into the work world as it exists means everyone suffers. So why not push beyond the current structural limitations? Why not inject some soul into our stifling structures? This helps the people who don’t fit into the current structures, but it also helps those who do fit in, but only begrudgingly, only because they “have to.” One of the biggest hurdles in creating compassion is the idea of, “I have to do it, so why don’t they?” And honestly, that’s a fair question to ask. Well, what if no one had to live as things are? And we could create structures that actually took people’s individuality and soul purpose into account? That’s the kind of work world people would enjoy being a part of. One that works for everyone, rather than creating a mean-spirited divide between those on the inside and those not. Compassion isn’t meant to flow only one way - from haves to have nots, for example. The people struggling within the system deserve just as much compassion as the people who have dropped out of it out of frustration. I think working people who are struggling day-by-day, pushed to their absolute limits and beyond, are actually more invisible than homeless people in this system.

Anyway, enough of the soap box for one month…

The main point is, we must be ready to move on from the past, willingly, and to let our souls guide us to our new homes, new relationships, new communities and new public roles within those communities. With all the Aquarius and Pisces energy involved, March is very much a “hand off” kind of month where start to make some big moves into a new way of doing things.

Throughout this entire month, Mercury and Venus are moving together in conjunction - first in Aquarius, and then, mid-month, in Pisces. This is an indicator that our conscious mind is very much aware of what’s going on. We’re focussed on the past completions and fresh starts available throughout this month. They’re on our minds. And our relationships and the interactions we have within them are acting as the vehicles through which this process does its work. Heart and mind are working together in tandem all month long, and a lot of work there is! Venus and then Mercury will conjunct Chiron, Neptune and the North Node in Aquarius, sextile Pluto in Capricorn and oppose Saturn in Virgo. They then conjunct each other March 25 as Mercury pulls ahead of Venus. With Mercury and Venus coming together in Pisces, our logical, analytical mind is infused with our heart’s wisdom. Our communication becomes more loving, gentle and compassionate. We understand a broader picture of things. Finally, both Mercury and Venus conjunct Uranus in Pisces near the end of the month.

Wow! That’s so much going on that I can’t even really sum it up here, but suffice it to say - action-packed! The outer planets are involved, so there is a big part of the events that is out of our conscious control. The outer planets have processes of their own that are sort of done TO us…and we then have the challenge of working with what trickles down in our personal lives (related to the inner planets - including Venus and Mercury). We’ll be working with all that outer planet direction this month through our personal hearts (Venus) and minds (Mercury) within our relationships and daily interactions within them.

The Sun enters Aries March 19, marking the Spring Equinox. After this equinox point (when daylight and dark hours are of completely equal duration), the days start to get longer than the nights. Spring is officially here, and we can focus on the fresh new vibe, leaving the dark days of winter behind us! Woo-hoo!

Adding to the energy of fresh starts and new directions is a very powerful Full Moon on March 20, just one day after the Spring Equinox. The Sun will be at 1 degree Aries, and the Moon at 1 degree Libra. Combined with Pluto at 1 degree Capricorn and Mars at 5 degrees Cancer, we have a Cardinal Grand Cross! I don’t think there could be much more powerful an alignment to move us into the new than a Cardinal Grand Cross involving the Sun, Moon, Pluto and Mars right at the beginning degrees of the cardinal signs. New leadership, new directions, initiating energy in spades. We’re right at the very beginning of so many things.
