Pluto Stationing Direct in Capricorn Conjunct Saturn and Resisting Everyday Fascism

Lord of the Underworld Pluto stations direct at 20 degrees Capricorn on October 2 (11:39 p.m. PDT) within a conjunction to Cosmic Daddy Saturn, and patriarchal bureaucratic hierarchy's got us down!

Even recognizing the invisible, top-down, coercive hand of Everyday Fascism in the functioning of mainstream society is challenging and exhausting, let alone resisting it while using our own steely wills to chart a different course.

But recognizing and resisting this Everyday Fascism and then choosing a different course through our daily lives is exactly the challenge that has been laid at our feet under the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn (exact in January 2020).

The rigid, artificial rhythms for daily work and life that have been set out for us are internalized by most at a very young age. We're born into it. This is just "what's normal." It's "what's done." It's "the way things are."

The Machine tells us: when to wake up, when to eat or drink, when to get in our cars or on our buses or trains, when to start work, when to stop work, when to take a 15-minute break from work, when to speak (and what to say), when not to speak (and what not to say), when to take a piss, when to pay our bills, when to take our allotted leisure time, when to be entertained, when to have sex, when to go to sleep. Then rinse and repeat.

Above all, The Machine tells us: faster, faster! More slick! More efficient! More impressive! Just more!

Can't rest. Can't slow down. Can't re-direct. Can't stop. Can't show signs of weakness with the wolves at our doors.

In this "digital age," the artificial rhythms and routines are speeding up to the point where a biological organism cannot keep up over the course of time without doing severe damage to itself, to its relationships, to its environment.

We're racing off the side of a cliff, oh-so-anxious to out-pace all competitors!

And we're wading through sick, soupy stretches of anxiety and depression as our biological systems rebel, as they whisper, then speak, then scream: "Something's wrong! This is not the way human beings were meant to live. This is not the way human beings were meant to be treated."

With Pluto stationing direct, we are reminded - under the layers of fear, terror, paranoia - of our own power within these manufactured structures that so often make us feel powerless. We're reminded that we can simply decide to get off the ride. We can commit to choosing our own pace, to setting our own daily rhythms, to defining our own versions of success. And we can carve this out to a satisfying degree even within the control-based structures as they exist.

We can remove our allegiance to The Machine as our timekeeper and life-structurer and goals-setter. We can instead seek the rightful timing of the universe, of nature, under the guidance of our higher power or our own conscience or both.

Pluto is stationing direct in Capricorn within a loosening square aspect to Venus in Libra. Venus will move into the sign of its detriment, Scorpio, on October 8 for a transit that lasts until November 1, 2019.

In light of this upcoming Venus transit and under the currently-concentrated Plutonic energies, I'm re-posting an excerpt of an article written for the Venus retrograde in Scorpio last fall. As Venus prepares to cross into "the dark half" of the zodiac once again, the themes appear to this anarchist astro-reporter to be as relevant as ever...

From November 24, 2018, "Venus in Scorpio and Addressing Socially-Acceptable Addictions"

"Scorpio is a sign that relates to addictions, and with Venus transiting Scorpio [October 8 to November 1, 2019)...we're addressing some hidden addictions in ourselves, in our relationships, and in our society.

Scorpio is also a sign related to detrimental karmic patterns, like addictions, that play out generation-after-generation due to suppressed emotion, psychological damage, and unresolved trauma.

Until now.

Until us.

We make the hard stop. We draw the firm line. We say no and no and no again until we've broken through. Until it loses its charge and its draw. Until the moth no longer gives a shit about the flame...

The standard, recognized addictions in our society certainly cause enough misery and mayhem: drugs, alcohol, gambling.

But with Venus in "deep subtext" Scorpio, we're required to dig up even the socially-accepted addictions, the addictions that are allowed - that are straight-up engineered by our power structures - because they bolster and fuel the toxic and dysfunctional societies and systems within which we are existing.

I've said in the past that without coffee (or similar stimulants), there would be no consumer capitalism - at least not the rampant, go-go-go, "constant growth" model that currently exists.

And you can see how many of the socially-accepted (and socially-engineered) addictions work to reinforce this sick, soulless, and unsustainable model of society and economic production. They work to keep people content within a system that is slowly (or not-so-slowly) poisoning them.

Some of these socially-accepted addictions include:

➝ workoholism or constant "busy-ness"
➝ caffeine, sugar, and processed food addictions to fuel the workoholism
➝ obsessive accumulation (money, property, cars, etc.) or compulsive shopping
➝ habitual "social drinking"
➝ over-reliance on prescription medications
➝ co-dependency, being addicted to another person or to a relationship
➝ sex addiction or serial dating
➝ an addiction to the high of falling in love, leading to an inability to maintain a stable, long-term relationship because the high wears off, and the person gets "bored."
➝ cell phones, social media, video games, television, film, and music - the inability to remain unstimulated by one or more of these things for even a short period of time (very prevalent in the younger generations)
➝ narcissistic obsessions with physical appearance, the body, status symbols, luxury lifestyles, and fame

The roots of addiction often (not always) involve unresolved and unacknowledged trauma and grief. Often, there is a root to the trauma and grief of generations past that have been brutally exploited by the wealth- and power-holders of their day.

Two sides - that had no real beef with each other when you get right down to it - set up to slaughter each other in a manufactured construct called "war." This manufactured construct called "war" was designed to benefit those at the top of the pyramid schemes of power through the acquisition of land and resources, through the dispossession of people from the land, through the destruction of homes, businesses, and communities, through the self-extermination of the people, through the divide-and-conquer tactics that kept the people weak, unable to rise up in common force against their oppressors and dominators.

And also through the inevitable pain, grief, confusion, chaos, and coping-mechanism addictions and dysfunction that would then be passed on and passed on and passed on...

Eventually, the roots became "invisible." So many generations wanting to put it all behind them that this tyranny was placed into an "olden times" context, far removed from our current day, despite the obvious signs that it was still with us and still wreaking havoc.

And the systemic violence and poisoning of the people that continue to current day, embedded in the very structures of our societies, became "invisible," too. The violence of a corrupted (Scorpio) money system (Venus) and the corrupted (Scorpio) societal values (Venus) that go along with it became invisible. Just people going about their daily lives. Nothing to see here.

We're being poisoned by the current power structures, by the governments and corporations and financiers and Old Money bloodlines. It's in our air, in our water, in our food, in our psychic and mental environments. It's layer-upon-layer of radiation, chemicals, heavy metals, electromagnetic pollution, poisoned emotions, forced rhythms, manipulated media, artificial values, corrupted food, degraded life.

But we've also been tricked into poisoning ourselves. We've been tricked into poisoning our relationships. Parents have been tricked into poisoning their own children.

As Venus picks its way through the emotional/psychological landmines of the sign of Scorpio...[we will be required to address unresolved trauma and generational grief, as well as] the addictive nature of modern society and the toxic social dynamics in which we are immersed.

In many ways, current, consumption-driven societies are built on these invisible addictions. The standard day is often structured around them, going from one fix to another to another, continuing under the guise of normalcy and standard routine.

Scorpio is associated with suppressed emotion, and one of the main seats of suppressed emotion in the body is the liver. In particular, suppressed anger and rage are stored there. (And honestly, if you aren't at least a little irritated with the state of things on this planet, you aren't paying very close attention...)

We have generation-after-generation of suppressed rage running through our biological systems, as well as a heaping helping of rage to process within our current moments, the rage that bubbles and boils just below the surface of day-to-day life. The rage that too-often erupts into violence and destructiveness, including the subtle emotional/psychological warfare running so rampant in human society these days.

If you look at many of the addictions that are playing out - drugs, alcohol, coffee, sugar, chocolate, processed foods, overeating (especially red meat) - they give an absolute shit-kicking to the liver. So do the roiling emotions kicked up by the toxic ways in which people are interacting with each other.

We're abusing our livers, we're abusing ourselves, and too often we're abusing each other, even in small ways, in ways that are easily shrugged off as inconsequential.

These angry livers need our attention. They need us to remove the layers of poison that are providing their daily, socially-accepted beatings.

But more importantly, we must address the toxic systems and structures that force these addictive coping mechanisms.

It's all well and good for the upper and upper-middle classes to look down on the less financially-privileged as "unhealthy" in their habits.

But poor, working class, and even many middle class people have not had the luxury of being insulated via financial privilege and social status from the most toxic and terrible conditions of these systems.

They often do not have expendable income for massages and acupuncture and therapists and energy healers and Pilates classes and organic groceries - methods used by the upper and upper-middle classes to make it through the day.

They are living in a society that expects them to work their guts out, that expects them to suffer, to literally work themselves into an early grave in exchange for the privilege of surviving.

Often, these people are doing work at which the upper and upper-middle classes would turn up their noses.

Those who haven't done working class jobs, blue collar jobs, really have no idea. Those who have not seen their friends and family and community members working themselves to death - aided by those addictive substances to get through the day - really have no idea.

The truth of the matter is: in most cases (and across most socioeconomic classes), people are not living lives of their own choosing. They're living forced lives on artificial rhythms and schedules, repugnant to a free and natural human being. Enduring this state without reprieve has highly detrimental effects.

It's the responsibility of all of us to improve conditions on this planet, and those with luxury and comfort have even more responsibility. It is the responsibility of these "luxuriating classes" to address the ways in which they are benefiting and profiting from toxic and unfair dynamics...and to create effective remedies.

We need to acknowledge the true roots of the suppressed emotion and unresolved trauma. The raging injustice and grief, passed generation-by-generation, that simmers just below the surface. We need to stop blaming ourselves and each other for set-ups that were engineered to be just this bad...and worse. We need to understand the illegitimate power structures and illegitimate power players that are creating these Hell scenarios for us on Earth. We need to stop turning it on ourselves - and on our poor livers. We need to stop turning it on each other.

What's going on stems from much higher up the pyramid scheme. It stems from all the way up at the pyramid cap, at the very highest rungs of this hierarchical shitshow. It stems from the "invisible" actions and direction of people we will never meet, of people who will never know our names. These are the so-called "elite." A glaring misnomer if ever I've heard one...

Our societies are being engineered to be this toxic, this dysfunctional, this anger-inducing, this full-on insane and inhumane.

And it continues with all those unaddressed, socially-accepted addictions providing (toxic) structure and routine to our day-to-day. It continues because the people who are benefiting from it simply go along with it. They justify it.

As lovely Venus moves through the sign most fear to experience (Scorpio), the way we love ourselves and each other, the way we love humanity and the living creatures on this planet, is to peel these layers of addiction, exposing and addressing the real root causes.

We refuse to stuff it down any longer, including with holiday meals and drinks and sweet treats. We refuse to swallow the false versions of history, the false versions of reality, that have whitewashed the real stories and protected the real culprits, the real parties responsible for this pain and dysfunction.

If we aren't working with the roots, we're just glossing over things, treating symptoms that will never truly go away, that will never really heal.

We have to support ourselves and those around us to make the changes that are needed, even if these changes seem quite radical. They seem radical only because they are so long overdue...

Bring the deep, ancestral anger up and validate it. It's legitimate. It's real.

But then use it as fuel to outsmart the socially-engineered traps that have been intentionally set out for us. See through the hierarchical bullshit - even when it benefits you in some way to go along with it. Refuse it. Refuse to accept the charity model as adequate. Work to change the power dynamics, creating a society and a system of currency where charity is not necessary. Refuse to take your cues from a soul-sick and damaging social order. Refuse to poison yourself, your relationships, or your community for even one more second."

Back to present day...

As you might imagine from reading the previous text, Plutonic/Scorpionic themes are some of the most hardcore of the astrological paradigm. The deeper we go and the more honest we are about even squirm-inducing subjects and dynamics, the more personal power we will be entrusted with in our lives and in our spheres of influence.

Both winged messenger Mercury and love-and-relationship planet Venus are about to enter Scorpio (Mercury on October 3; Venus on October 8), indicating a deepening of thoughts/conversations and of relationship dynamics. Surface turbulence or drama most often indicates a root to something deeper, often something that has remained unaddressed for too long.

Dig in. Be brave. And you will be rewarded.

The Mutable T-Square Effect and Putting Our Truth Into Practical Action

Expansion planet Jupiter, strong in its own sign, stationed direct at 14 degrees Sagittarius on August 11 - the same day revolution-or-bust planet Uranus went retrograde at six degrees Taurus.

With Jupiter still very slow in the zodiac, we are experiencing a concentration of themes involving the Sagittarian subjects of philosophy, knowledge, beliefs, and truth.

The Cosmic Spotlight is shining a particularly intense light on what we believe and what we know to be true, which may require us to stand in our own beliefs and truth even if this is not popular with others.

With Jupiter direct traveling over degrees it has previously traversed until November 7, we're making a renewed commitment to living our truth, something we've been coming into more fully since Jupiter first entered Sagittarius in November 2018. This sounds simple but is actually quite a complex process with many hard angles to navigate.

In many ways, this is a quiet truth, a quietly guiding truth, that lifts us up and over the corruption, deceit, manipulation, and general wrongheadedness that characterizes so much of (manufactured) human society these days. It's a truth we can cling to while surrounded by upsetting falsity.

With Jupiter slow and concentrated in mid-Sagittarius, we're being given some time to get clear on what we really believe to be true and how much it matters to us. Would we be willing to stand in that truth even in the face of a hostile majority? Would we be willing to back others up?

As Jupiter moves direct once again, we're being asked how far we can compromise our beliefs and our truth in order to navigate the systems and structures as they exist. These systems and structures - and the power dynamics inherent within them - often attempt to force a top-down version of (manipulated) truth down our throats, demanding absolute compliance and a willingness to superimpose the manufactured philosophies of The Machine over our own guiding philosophies and better judgement.

With the themes of Jupiter in Sagittarius so strong, we're peeling our way down to the core truth amidst challenging, illusory, even dangerously deceitful conditions. Fakery and glossy half-truth abound with so many pretty, smiling faces representing these things to much acclaim on both public and private stages...

Jupiter in Sagittarius will form its third and final square to transiting Neptune in Pisces on September 21 at 17 degrees of the signs.

Jupiter entered Sagittarius on November 9, 2018, and it will transit the sign of its domicile until entering Capricorn on December 3, 2019. Jupiter has been working on the square to Neptune in Pisces for most of its transit of Sagittarius, forming exact square aspects:

- January 13, 2019 at 14 degrees
- June 16, 2019 at 18 degrees
- September 21, 2019 at 17 degrees

With Jupiter now coming into its third and final exact square to Neptune, we're coming to a culmination point, a final testing point, involving the ongoing challenge of determining what is real from what is fake, what is true from what is false, what is concrete from what is illusory, what is meaningful from what is diversionary. For the most part, we are required to determine these things for ourselves.

One of the Jupiter square Neptune themes I've written about in the past is controlled opposition. From November 19, 2018: "Jupiter Square Neptune and How to Spot Controlled Opposition."

Once you clearly see and understand the dynamics, once you can sense the dynamics, it is much harder to be taken in by these slippery, snake-charming individuals...

There are many charlatans, many phonies, many egotists, many people intensely lacking in integrity who are being placed on pedestals, who are being turned into celebrities, even if just the YouTube or Instagram varieties.

Jupiter in Sagittarius square Neptune in Pisces:

There are many narcissists in healers' clothing.

There are many narcissists in philosophers' clothing.

There are many narcissists in truth-tellers' clothing.

There are many narcissists in positions of (unearned) power and renown as thinkers, as teachers, as leaders.

Even if they cannot be classified as full-on narcissists, harmful narcissistic tendencies are creeping in, even becoming socially acceptable, and this needs to be addressed.

It's up to us to peel the layers of phoniness and ego-fakery, to nullify their influence, to unseat the pedestal-sitters and attention-clamourers in our own minds, rather than being taken in by it all. It's up to us to see through it. To be bemused by their gall, rather than taken in by their charm and charisma, by the intoxicating aura of fame, celebrity, popularity.

The real truth is quiet. It keeps its own counsel. It doesn't need to blow up on Facebook or Twitter or Snapchat or any of the mainstream media channels to be legitimized.

Though it would certainly be nice, the truth needs no mass legitimization.

Venus and Mars form a conjunction at 3 degrees Virgo on August 24. We then experience a New Moon at 6 degrees Virgo on August 30 within a stellium of planets in the sign of the virgin (Sun-Moon-Mercury-Venus-Mars).

Clarification and sustained, focused effort are required in the areas associated with the houses where Virgo lies in your natal and Secondary Progressed charts.

The Virgo New Moon opens us into an intensely busy time, a time of potential overwhelm when it will be required that we stay clear on our own truth and our own roles amidst the prevailing chaos.

As we move through the lunar cycle, the personal planets in Virgo form square aspects to Jupiter in Sagittarius and oppositions to Neptune Rx in Pisces, creating a changeable and fluid mutable t-square effect that is very intense during the first half of September.

This indicates a strongly transitional time that requires ongoing adaptation and adjustment with our duties and roles. We're being challenged under these mutable t-squares to clarify our personal philosophies, beliefs, and truth and to then put these into precise and practical action in the material world, even in the smallest and simplest of ways.

September 2 - Venus in Virgo square Jupiter in Sagittarius (15 degrees)
September 3 - Mercury conjunct Mars and the Sun in Virgo (10 degrees)
September 4 - Venus in Virgo opposite Neptune Rx in Pisces (17 degrees)
September 6 - Mercury in Virgo square Jupiter in Sagittarius (15 degrees)
September 7 - Mercury in Virgo opposite Neptune Rx in Pisces (17 degrees)
September 8 - Sun in Virgo square Jupiter in Sagittarius (15 degrees)
September 10 - Sun in Virgo opposite Neptune Rx in Pisces (17 degrees)
September 12 - Mars in Virgo square Jupiter in Sagittarius (16 degrees)
September 13 - Mars in Virgo opposite Neptune Rx in Pisces (16 degrees) + Mercury conjunct Venus in Virgo (28 degrees) + Full Moon at 21 degrees Pisces

Phew! That is a jam-packed two-week stretch of time with an excess of mental activity and processing indicated. We're going to need a peaceful Libra season/equinox to bring all that activity (over-activity) back into balance.

Gemini becomes the fourth leg of the mutable t-square, representing air energy and the influence of intellect. This indicates a necessity to maintain proper perspective, including a sense of context.

These astro conditions indicate a period of time when people are too busy, too taxed, and a little (or a lot) overwhelmed. It will be easy for people to get hunkered down in their own busyness, believing that they are The Busiest of Them All, The Most Put Upon, The Most Overloaded.

The truth is that the system is set up to keep people too busy with their own lives and jobs and obligations and activities and worries and concerns to the point that they are conveniently distracted from the bigger picture.

The influence of Jupiter in Sagittarius indicates the importance of keeping the bigger picture firmly in our sights, staying clear on our own context within that bigger picture.

Jupiter spends one year in each of the signs, taking 12 years to make a full spin through the zodiac.

In a very real way, as Jupiter moves direct in its final pass through Sagittarius for 12 years, we're setting a tone for truth and meaning in our lives (or, unfortunately, for the lack of those things) by the way in which we conduct ourselves.

As the personal planets in Virgo activate the mutable t-square with Jupiter and Neptune, we're required to work out the fine points as far as how we put our truth, our beliefs, and our guiding philosophies into active, daily practise in practical ways. Taking on this (somewhat sticky) challenge now ensures that we do not have to deal with the unpleasant ramifications of compromising our truth or our selves. Having a backbone now, despite the difficulty, holds form in many ways for the next 12 years of our lives.

Yes, this is big. Jupiter is the biggest planet in our solar system, and its themes are big, too.

Some big illusions are set to pop under these Virgo-heavy t-square dynamics. Some Golden Pedestals are about to crumble.

But it takes diligence on our parts to help facilitate this...

"The ideal" versus "the reality" becomes a stronger theme, including how we can make reality the very foundation of our ideals. Integrating these things rather than polarizing them. With relationship planets Venus and Mars in Virgo so strongly involved, relationships are a primary area where this theme comes front and centre.

It's the perfect, Facebook-ready outward appearances versus the up-close, nitty-gritty reality behind closed doors. It's quite mind-boggling to see the gaping chasm between the polished, social media imagery of relationship and the many problems that can exist (for everyone) in a real-life, day-to-day relationship.

We're being confronted by some of these themes (glossy surface imagery versus a more accurate or realistic take on things) so that we can see through and disarm the illusions, the superficialities, and the harmful concept of "perfection" - in relationships and otherwise.

This Virgo season, under a Virgo stellium and powerful mutable t-square, a lot of work, a lot of diligence, and a lot of attention to detail will be required. To successfully navigate these astro conditions, we must apply our Virgoan discernment to quite a precise and relentless degree.

These clashing mutable energies are pretty messy, and Virgo abhors a mess...

We're separating what is truly useful to us from the noisy, the illusory, and the diversionary.

This Virgo season (August 23 to September 23) has a "treading our little asses off to keep our heads above water" feel to it. We're working hard to keep our focus and to keep our cool.

The pressure and over-activity indicated by the mutable t-squares build during the last week of August and first half of September, culminating in a Pisces Full Moon at 21 degrees on September 13.

Immediately following the Full Moon - on September 14 - we find some relief as Mercury and Venus enter Libra, still traveling in exact conjunction. We start to seek balance, beauty, peace, and harmony, some respite as we near the end of an overly-busy and challenging Virgo season.

The final Jupiter in Sagittarius square to Neptune in Pisces occurs September 21, one final acute point before the Sun enters Libra in the wee hours of September 23, marking equinox in the northern hemisphere.

Full disclosure of my own guiding philosophy under this Jupiter-Neptune square:

As a working class, anarchist/Plutonic punk astrologer, I don't believe in hierarchy. I believe hierarchical power structures (and the exploitation and coercion built into them) are the root of much unnecessary suffering on this planet, and the nullification of hierarchical power would bring us to a much healthier, more humane, and more functional way of being. Removing institutionalized hierarchical power dynamics (the way nearly all institutions and organizations are set up) would release the full magic of life on this planet, allowing human beings and human societies to re-organize and solve problems that have intentionally gone unsolved by the power schemes for millennia.

I don't legitimize hierarchical bullshit. I don't recognize it as in any way legitimate. This ethic goes to the deepest depths of my life and work.

There really are no untouchable sacred cows for me when it comes to the truth. I won't shy away from a subject just because it is held in hallowed light within the broader society.

I don't ask people to agree with my perspective, but this is the perspective from which I come as a writer, journalist, and astrologer.

Standing in my own truth and beliefs has caused much social and professional turbulence (a ridiculous amount, really), and I don't suggest anyone follow that path unless personally compelled to do so.

What I do suggest under these astrological energies is a practical clarification of your own truth and beliefs, as well as what these things mean to you and how you can more effectively apply them in your day-to-day life. Getting clear on this and maintaining focus there will be required for the successful navigation of these uber mutable astro energies.

Dystopian Flames Zine in the Mount Royal University Zine Collection

Dystopian Flames: The True Cost of Oil Production on the Canadian Prairies zine is now available in the Mount Royal University zine collection in Calgary, Alberta.

A man from the university found the zine online and purchased two copies for the collection.

I lived in Calgary for six years, which they call "the city that oil built," so to have this zine in a university zine collection in that city is a bit of a coup. Very cool and unexpected! I'm happy to spread the word about this terribly dangerous and toxic practise, going on in my home area of Saskatchewan and all over the prairies. This is certainly a practise that needs to come to a swift end before more people, animals, and environments are harmed.

Dystopian Flames was a companion zine, written in early 2019, for a photography exhibit I did at my local library.

Mercury Direct and a New Moon in Leo Bring Eclipse Season to an End With a Bang

Photos: Willow

Communication and intelligence planet Mercury is slowing for a direct station at 23 degrees Cancer on August 1 (3:58 a.m. PDT) opposite Pluto, just as we open into a Leo-infused lunar cycle with an 8-degree Leo New Moon on July 31 (8:12 p.m.) conjunct Venus.

This astrological context indicates a quick gear change as we enter August that will close out our summer eclipse season with a bit of a bang.

Leo is one of the most fun signs in the zodiac, and we're opening into a lunar cycle strongly coloured by this fun, fixed, fire sign energy with a New Moon (Sun and Moon), Venus, Mars, and Juno in Leo. Mercury will also be back in Leo from August 11 to 28.

From a previous article

"Leo is flashy, bold, confident, stylin'.

Leo has star power, even if it's just local celebrity.
Leo is about the tremendous power of art and music and creativity and style and fun and personality and pizzazz to join us all, beaming, at the heart.

It's the power of an old drinking song, it's the power of an old gospel song, it's the power of an old classic that everyone knows the words to.

Leo is hot, there's no doubt about it."

Get ready for some summer sizzle, amped up even further by the strong influence of love, beauty, and sensuality planet, Venus, on this lunar cycle...

New Moon in Leo conjunct Venus - click to enlarge

The Cancer New Moon at 10 degrees on July 2 was a total solar eclipse that led us to a Capricorn Full Moon partial lunar eclipse on July 16. That Full Moon in the sign of its detriment fell closely conjunct Pluto Rx and loosely conjunct Saturn Rx in Capricorn.

This indicated a period of deep restructuring, re-prioritizing, and re-formulating that will most likely not come to full fruition/closure until January 2020 under the exact Saturn-Pluto conjunction.

There has been an ongoing requirement this eclipse season to wade through and address challenging emotions as we move through major structural shifts and changes. The Cancer North Node of the Moon was strongly activated by the personal planets this eclipse season, and our emotional or inner landscapes were the primary guidance mechanisms through all the construction headaches and big decisions to be made. We've been persevering through both emotional and mental confusion, indicated by the Mercury retrograde in Cancer.

Things have come apart at the seams in certain respects under these eclipses, so coloured by the energy and themes of Saturn Rx conjunct Pluto Rx, and now everything needs to be reconstructed in a better way for all involved.

Things are moving on. We've hit some emotional points of no return, some Plutonic points. Big decisions have been made, at least internally. The external implementation of these decisions may not be fully visible until the first quarter of 2020.

There simply is not enough emotional energy to do what the hierarchical power structures are asking/coercing us to do. The steps we're being asked to take, the work we're being asked to do, the top-down decisions we're being asked to stomach, the insanity we're being asked to go along with, simply cannot be done, cannot be assimilated, without damaging ourselves emotionally and draining our emotional reserves.

This is the challenge, the gauntlet laid at our feet, with a Cancer North Node opposite Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn. Emotional and psychological health simply cannot be maintained long-term if we go along with dynamics and scenarios that we know, deep down, are not right, are not OK. We simply can't stretch ourselves far enough (even with the boosts from caffeine and sugar and booze and online shopping and Netflix and Instagram followers and Facebook Likes) to accomplish what is being asked of us in order to be considered "successful" within the current set-ups.

And so we are at a very stretched and stressed and challenging point as we move into the Mercury direct station opposite Pluto. We're aware of the high stakes, the consequences of the moves we make or don't make, of the words we say or don't say.

With the influence of Saturn in its own sign of Capricorn, we're looking to make strong, long-term, foundational moves in our lives. We're looking for something we can count on to sustain us over the long haul.

But with the influence of Pluto in Capricorn, we are also well aware of just how uncertain it all is, how impossible it is at this point to set our decisions or our trajectories in stone. We're aware of the gaping insecurity of being a living thing on this planet, on a planet becoming more toxic and unhinged by the day for the profit of a relative handful. The desire for stability and long-term security (Saturn in Capricorn) combined with an underlying awareness of systemic instability and insecurity (Pluto in Capricorn) can be anxiety-inducing. You bet your sweet bippy it can.

Eclipse seasons indicate the potential for backdrop changes, both in our personal lives and on the collective stage, and with the strong influence of Pluto in Capricorn during this eclipse season, these backdrop changes may be all-encompassing for some people. The ripple effects from these eclipses now carry through to December 2019/January 2020 when we come to the next eclipse period.

Our conversations, ideas, and information flow are particularly potent now with Mercury stationing direct at 23 degrees Cancer in close opposition to Pluto Rx at 21 degrees Capricorn and in loose opposition to Saturn Rx at 15 degrees Capricorn. Some steaming-potent words, tones, and underlying messages are circulating around in the days surrounding this station. Our conversations and general frames of mind may have a serious or even detrimental tone to them.

It's easy to think the worst under this Mercury direct station in always-with-the-feels Cancer, but be aware that there's some Plutonic paranoia nipping at us now. Things are not as bad as they may seem. Some anxious thoughts are swirling around, stuck in our minds under the nearly-stopped motion of Mercury, but this starts to shift after the direct station on August 1.

We are also bursting into a glamourous, glorious, gorgeous Leo New Moon on July 31 that is tightly conjunct Venus in Leo and square stationing Uranus in Taurus. Pow! At the same time, sexy bastard Mars forms a conjunction with soul mate Goddess Juno in Leo (exact August 2 at 20 degrees), which stokes creative, romantic, and carnal fires, producing a heat that can be felt throughout the Leo lunar cycle.

The fiery Leo New Moon conjunct Venus and square Uranus indicates the potential for new-era creative collaborations to develop, including the idea of "love relationship as creative collaboration." We're taking on love relationships (and relationships of all kinds) as ongoing, organically-unfolding creative collaborations. Relationships as living works of art. The art of being with someone. The art of being there for someone. The art of receiving love and togetherness from another person or people.

After a period of emotional intensity, challenge, and limitation indicated by the Saturnine-Plutonic eclipse season, we're ready to burst forth with new passions, new creativity, new heartfelt expression - in whatever directions these may take.

With this Venusian Leo New Moon falling in close square aspect to stationing Uranus in Taurus, there is a break in protocol coming, a creative surge that moves us beyond previous parameters. Our hearts are simply too full to be contained and constrained by the old frameworks. The Venus-Uranus square (exact August 2) indicates changes coming in relationships, money matters, and artistic/creative avenues. In the fixed signs, these changes may be a little unnerving or difficult to integrate at first, but the Uranian effect promises that they will ultimately be refreshing, and they will advance things in necessary ways.

Relationships may come together or "go public" during this Leonine lunar cycle in surprising or exciting ways.

Passions are running high, including creative or artistic passions, but this also indicates the potential for some "diva moments" or personality clashes that must be navigated.

Catalytic creative collaborations could get off the ground this lunar month. Deeply heartfelt connections can be achieved via surprising avenues.

There is also an unsettled element that continues into this lunar cycle, an unpredictable creative flow. The creative energy is powerful, strong, saturated...but it has a mind of its own in many respects. Adaptation in the moment will be required as we work with creative directives from the universe. This isn't so much, "What do you want to create?" as it is, "What needs to be created through you?"

The unpredictable, hard-angled Uranian edge is particularly potent now with Uranus stationing retrograde at 6 degrees Taurus on August 11, the same day Jupiter goes direct at 14 degrees Sagittarius and Mercury direct re-enters Leo.

The Sun and Venus, travelling in conjunction in Leo, will form trine aspects to stationing Jupiter in Sagittarius on August 7 and 8, indicating strong inspiration and a jovial tone as we broaden our creative, stylistic, and relationship horizons - perhaps all at the same time.

Venus will catch up to the Sun, forming an exterior conjunction at 20 degrees Leo on August 13. This sets off the degree of the Mars-Juno conjunction that was experienced on August 2.

Remember those "creative, romantic, and carnal fires?"

*stoke, stoke, stoke*

The Sun-Venus exterior conjunction on August 13 is a major check-in point following the last Venus retrograde (10 degrees Scorpio to 25 degrees Libra) in October/November 2018. Events or loose ends from the fall of 2018 may be picked up again as the Sun and Venus conjoin in Leo.

We've come through an emotionally and psychologically challenging eclipse season and are just about to burst into bloom in new ways. Beautiful new energy, inspiration, and creative flow are about to permeate our lives. Just remember, though - it all has an edge!

Respect interpersonal frictions, and provide the right amount of space for yourself and others. We can all be fabulous, as long as we aren't overpowering others or stepping on their fabulousity as we do our own thing.

This is a time to shine in the world as exactly who you are. Personal style is in the spotlight, and it never goes out of style to be yourself in this world. There are far too many people trying to be carbon copies of each other, striving to be special by (counter-productively) looking, sounding, and living just like everyone else.

The Uranian edge to this Leo New Moon indicates that a stronger display of individuality and personality is on the docket. So show off some mad style, both in the way you look and dress but also just in the way you live your life.

Leo season is a time to honour life as an ongoing work of art. The gorgeous difficulty of it and the glorious beauty of it co-exist, weave together, and form something utterly unique for each living thing on this planet. Simultaneously, that "utter uniqueness" takes its place within the collective context, contributing its richness, its offerings, and its gifts to this world.

Things are not easy. No, they never have been. But this life is so beautiful, oh-so-beautiful, even at its most brutal points. Hold that beauty in your heart this Leo season, hold it and cherish it and draw on it for strength, and you really can't go wrong...

Dark Moon Podcast #5 with Yerevan and Willow - Forced Vaccine Agenda

Dark Moon Podcast #5 with Yerevan and Willow - Forced Vaccine Agenda

The forced vaccination agenda is heating up throughout 2019 and 2020. In this podcast, Yerevan and I discuss the reasons why people should not be force-vaccinated against their will by the state and why they should not be forced or coerced to vaccinate their children against their will.

This is not a pro-vaccine/anti-vaccine debate. This podcast is about human rights and what right the state has to force you to take substances proven to be potentially fatal or disabling into your body against your will.

This podcast outlines some of the very real dangers associated with vaccines that are currently being swept under the rug in the discourse around the issue.

Informed decisions can only be made when the dangers of the vaccines are weighed against the dangers of the diseases they are supposed to ward off. Currently, the dangers of the vaccines are not being fully taken into consideration in the public discourse.

Hundreds of stories from people harmed by vaccinations have been collected at the VAXXED TV YouTube channel

A Late Scorpio Full Moon: No War With Iran, and No War on Earth. Not Now, and Never Again.

The Moon is full in Scorpio, the sign of its detriment. This is both an unsettled and an unsettling Moon. This is a Moon that sheds light on the darkest of intentions, on the dirtiest of allegiances, on the most hidden of motivations. This is a Moon-mother that prepares us for the trials up ahead. It doesn't sugarcoat things. It doesn't pretend or deny. It emotionally acclimatizes us to the darker elements of life on this Earth, helping us to get comfortable with even the most uncomfortable of emotional and psychological realities. It illuminates previously-hidden nuances, aiding our intuition as we feel around in the dark. This is a Moon-mother that comforts us with the understanding that we can get through even this, that people always have gotten through. This is the Moon of ancestors. They had the grit to make it through tough times, and so, of course, do we. This Moon provides validation on that point.

Under this Scorpio Full Moon, the psychopaths who call themselves our leaders are puffing themselves up and making themselves important via plans for a new and vicious war attack.

Uranus is the planet of the unexpected, you see. But with the past two Uranus ingresses have come the all-too-reliable unleashing of violence, death, misery, and destruction by the powers-that-be on the people.

With the change in signs of Uranus has come the roll-out of a new version of Hell on Earth:

Uranus in Pisces in 2003. The horrific invasion of Iraq and mass slaughter of Iraquis (either quickly through direct attack or slowly through economic sanctions) under false pretenses.

Uranus in Aries in 2011. The illegal bombing of Libya, murder of Libyans, and assassination of the country's leader. Simultaneously, the Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan as covert nuclear warfare and the immediate murder of thousands of people with the tsunami.

Uranus in Taurus in 2019. A well-publicized intent by the U.S. of A. to send 120,000 troops to the Middle East with Iran, in particular, in its sights. This is being called "reminiscent of the invasion of Iraq."

The Hell on Earth initiated by the power establishment at each Uranus ingress is experienced most acutely, of course, by whatever poor human beings find themselves in the geographical cross-hairs, living, through no fault of their own, on land pre-destined for the orchestrated horror, pain, and atrocity that benefit the ultra rich, sipping martinis in glass cages in the sky while the profits from their murder machine passively roll in.

This pre-planned, engineered, and orchestrated Hell on Earth is also felt oh-so-acutely by whatever country boys and inner city boys and working class gals were convinced that they were doing a good and honourable thing for their countries by enlisting. They don't yet see the full extent of it, the Hell on Earth that will be rolled out for many of them for the remainder of their days. The post-traumatic stress, the mental illness, the addictions, the impossibility of re-integrating into society, the poverty, the homelessness, the lifelong haunting by what they've seen and what they've done.

But this Hell on Earth does not begin and end with these direct targets, with these lambs being sacrificed without a second thought by the murder machine.

This Hell on Earth has a very long reach. It seeps into every farm, every town, every city, every household, every office building. It seeps into the special occasions and the regular, old days alike.

It seeps into every psyche.

And the epidemics of depression, anxiety, loneliness, and hopelessness deepen. The badness strengthens until even the hyper-scheduled and frantic pace of daily life can't bury it, can't deflect from it, can't create escape from it.

The Hell creeps in, seeps in, sets in, even though most cannot see the roots of it. They cannot see the toxic energetic state of this planet as directly affecting their own well-being in any way.

And I can write about all this, after so many years, in a matter-of-fact sort of way. I can lay out the astrology. I can back up my sentences with applicable research links. I can describe this new roll-out of Hell on Earth in simple, black-and-white words on a screen.

And maybe it even seems a little bloodless, how I foresee all this and then lay it out.

But none of this is bloodless. None of this is without horrendous consequence. None of these words are written without awareness, to the very core of me, of what they really mean.

These are real, precious people who will be hurt while the elite celebrate their missile strikes with champagne. These are people who are loved. People who have families, communities, lives, hopes. People who have favourite foods and favourite music and favourite animals. People who tuck their sweet babies into bed at night. People who sip coffee or tea, who watch the sunrise or sunset, who laugh or cry. These are real people who are going to be hurt by psychopaths erroneously calling themselves our leaders, psychopaths who truly believe that the masses are less than they are, that precious human beings are nothing but collateral damage on their paths to obscene wealth and "greatness."

I know that it's real blood, real pain, real suffering, and I know it's being intentionally brought down by those who feel justified in setting this in motion for their own benefit, to settle their pathetic "pissing matches through the ages." As the bodies pile up, so do their profits. And so does their smug self-satisfaction. They see nothing wrong with this. To them, this is just. This is the natural way of things in their sick and twisted world. This is the way it's been planned all along. This is the way it has always been planned.

Oh, God, please, how do we stop this? How do we stop all of it, the whole thing?

The slaughter and violence brought down on Iraq is still felt today, a decades-long primal scream. So is the slaughter and violence intentionally brought down all around the world.

It doesn't really leave us. It just piles up. Because it's never fully acknowledged. It's never fully exposed. We never get to the real roots. We never uncover the full scope of depravity in the power establishment, swinging instead from Liberal to Conservative, from Democrat to Republican, without seeing how they all play the same vicious and anti-human game.

We are already at the brink of what our collective sanity level can manage. This planet can't take any more war. We've absorbed all we can absorb. To push forward in this way against Iran is madness, but it is, indeed, mad men and women at the helm, and we need to understand this in no uncertain terms.

It is globalist male dick-swinging combined with personal vendettas that are going to get people hurt and killed. These people are not our leaders, no matter what the political stripe. These people do not hold legitimate power over us. They do not tell the truth. They are not good people. They do not live good lives.

Under this Scorpio Full Moon, we're getting prepared for a reality that almost no sane, thinking, caring person wishes to experience.

We're getting comfortable with the ugliness under this Moon so that it doesn't take us by surprise.

We're getting comfortable with the ugliness under this Moon so that it doesn't take us down.

So thank-you, Scorpio Moon, for not sparing us. Thank-you for preparing us. Thank-you for trusting us with knowledge of the full reality, even when it's a reality we do not want.

This knowing is power - a power they try mightily to sever us from.

But as this Moon grows full in Scorpio, we know with every fibre in us that we cannot actually be severed from this knowing, not for long, not without our permission.

We're soul-connected through time and space to every person who knew the real deal, who felt it and could not un-feel it, who saw it and could not un-see it. This is our comfort now. That we share this knowing and this seeing, even without speaking a word to each other.

We stand under this beautiful, glowing orb, bringing its heavy, unsettling, and most-valuable realizations, with our eyes wide open.

The Moon is full at 27 degrees Scorpio at 2:11 p.m. (PDT) on May 18.

Alter Mind Podcast: The Exploited Underground

I had a great conversation yesterday on the Alter Mind podcast with Jon Darkly and Yerevan. We talked about a subject that I think is important to shed some light on, and that is the rampant plagiarism and general ripping off that's going on in these digital age times. In particular, we talked about the how the underground is being exploited and tapped to feed the larger public platforms of others. You can watch here:

Alter Mind #018: The Exploited Underground

Thank-you to Jon for the invitation to come on his show and to Yerevan for laying down some potent and interesting information on famous plagiarists from history, as well as her own personal experiences. Valuable show!

The Uranus in Taurus Transit and Orchestrated War Attacks Involving Nuclear (Uranus) and Banking (Taurus)

I've reported previously on orchestrated, U.S.-led war attacks that have been carried out around the time of Uranus ingresses.

Uranus is a planet associated with unexpected events and trauma-based shock. It appears that the symbology and energy of Uranus are being drawn upon to create "surprise attacks" by the establishment that have actually been long pre-planned.

The invasion and attack against Iraq/Saddam Hussein was carried out by the U.S. and NATO forces in March 2003 as Uranus ingressed Pisces.

Then in March 2011 as Uranus ingressed Aries, the illegal bombing of Libya was carried out by the same forces. The Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan was, I believe, a covert nuclear attack that was carried out at the same time.

From the March 11, 2019 article, "Chiron in Aries and Uranus in Taurus Mark the 8th Anniversary of the Ongoing Fukushima Nuclear Disaster":

"We know that for the past two Uranus ingresses that occurred around March equinox, there were orchestrated "surprise" war attacks involving uranium.

I believe Fukushima was an act of covert nuclear warfare (uranium/Uranus) timed to occur on the day that Uranus re-entered Aries - March 11, 2011. The 11th is a date that has been used numerous times for orchestrated events for its numerological significance.

During the previous Uranus ingress, as Uranus re-entered Pisces in March 2003, the invasion of Iraq by the United States military was initiated. This attack also involved covert nuclear warfare (uranium/Uranus) in the form of depleted uranium munitions and bombs, which have left radioactive dust behind to contaminate the genetic lines of generations of Iraquis, as well as NATO soldiers. There was also a tie to the 11th in that attack - the September 11, 2001 false flag in New York City that brought down the World Trade Centres and Building 7 in controlled demolition was a way to get public support for the invasion of Iraq, a country proven to have nothing to do with the event, even in the official story. It also allowed the U.S. government to bring in the Patriot Act and other fascist control measures that violated citizens' rights in the name of "security and protection."

You can read more about these astrologically-timed events in this April 15, 2018 article, "False Flags, the Friday the 13th Bombing of Syria, and Timed War Attacks with Chiron at 29 Pisces/Zero Aries."

Or listen to Dark Moon podcast #1 from May 15, 2018, "Uranus Ingresses and Timed War Attacks.""

The orchestrated war attack associated with the Uranus ingress of Taurus (March 6) is a little behind schedule. Taurus the bull is not to be rushed. But we have just had reports that U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton is planning to send 120,000 troops to the Middle East, with Iran in mind, in a move that is being called "reminiscent of the invasion of Iraq."

Iran has long been in the sights of this man.

From the L.A. Times, May 14, 2019, "It's John Bolton's world. Trump is just living in it," by Colin H. Kahl and Jon B. Wolfsthal:

"Bolton’s hard line toward [North Korea] is perhaps only surpassed by his fixation on Iran. During a trip to Israel a month before the 2003 Iraq invasion, Bolton told Israeli officials that once Saddam Hussein was dealt with, the United States should turn its sights to Iran. And over the past decade, countless Bolton op-eds, Fox News appearances, and speeches have called for attacking Iran and supporting regime change there. In January 2018, even as international inspectors repeatedly confirmed that Iran was complying with its nuclear obligations, Bolton dismissed the value of the nuclear deal and argued that America’s policy should instead be to end the regime before its 40th anniversary in 2019."

So as Uranus (uranium) gets comfortable in this new sign, we have more pre-planned war manoeuvres that have a tie-in to nuclear, and this tie-in has some long tentacles to uncover.

Down the rabbit hole we go...

Stuxnet was a computer "worm" believed to be created by the U.S. and Israel to attack Iran's nuclear facilities. It was discovered in 2010.

Operation Olympic Games was a covert campaign of cyber sabotage believed to be initiated by the U.S. and Israel in 2006 under the Bush Administration, continued under the Obama Administration, to disrupt Iran's nuclear facilities.

Also in 2010, the year the Stuxnet computer worm was discovered, it was reported that Japan had agreed to enrich uranium for Iran

We also learned that an Israeli security firm called Magna BSP had worked at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear site installing a high-tech security system that could be controlled remotely.

So we certainly have the nuclear angle well-covered with this Uranus (uranium) ingress via the violent threats toward Iran from the U.S. and allies. The nuclear tie-in, again, has threads that reach back to the Fukushima nuclear disaster and the bombing of Libya in 2011, as well as to the invasion of Iraq in 2003.

Taurus is a Venus-ruled money sign, and we also have a strong money/banking angle (Taurus) with this Uranus in Taurus ingress and transit, coinciding with the new threats toward Iran.

From my April 15, 2018 article: "Uranus last transited Taurus from 1935 to 1942, coinciding with Great Depression years, as well as the first years of the second World War. We look to the upcoming Uranus ingress of Taurus for war attacks related to banking, money systems, and resources (Taurus), in particular."

Iran is one of the last hold-out countries in the world that is not under the thumb of the centralized Rothschild banking scheme. Libya and Iraq were two other "rogue nations" that had resisted globalized banking.

North Korea, Bolton's other obsession, is another of those "rogue nations," and we saw some puppetry between the U.S. and North Korea in late February 2019, just as Uranus was moving back into Taurus March 6.

There's a nasty combination of nukes (Uranus) and banks (Taurus) rolled into the war-based symbology of this Uranus in Taurus transit (2018 - 2026).

Attacks related to food, agriculture (including geoengineering), starvation, systemic poverty, and lack (Taurus) can also be expected under this astrological symbol.

I've also been reporting in an ongoing way on the Bayer-Monsanto merger, including some of the surprising (Uranus) economic (Taurus) justice we've seen through the courts since Uranus kicked off its transit of Taurus in May 2018 (retrograding back into Aries from November 6, 2018 to March 6, 2019). An article from April 10, 2019: "Uranus in Taurus, Bankrupting Bayer-Monsanto, and Unexpected Economic Justice for Corporate Violence"

The third and most recent ruling against Monsanto (now Bayer-Monsanto) has awarded a staggering $2 billion to Alva and Alberta Pilliod for the non-Hodgkin's lymphoma they both suffer from and say was caused by regular Roundup exposure. The Pilliods used Roundup for 30 years on their properties.

There are currently more than 13,000 pending lawsuits against Bayer-Monsanto for Roundup damages.

Then Bayer will face approximately 30,000 lawsuits over damages caused to women by its Essure birth control coils. Those lawsuits are scheduled to get underway in November 2019.

Since purchasing Monsanto in 2018, Bayer's share prices have plummeted 44%

These rapidly depreciating share prices are another example of the surprising economic justice we've seen under transiting Uranus in Taurus.

Keep it coming, Uranus.

Venus Conjunct Uranus, Open Mic Censorship, and the Apolitical Arts Scene

Venus (arts) is currently conjunct Uranus (sudden events, upheaval, community, radical), and a 15-year-old from a cover band just tried to censor me at an open mic that I was instrumental in organizing and promoting.

I couldn't make this stuff up at this point.

This was the third open mic we had put on. I was an original organizer and put many, many (unpaid) hours into organizing, promoting, social media, local media, liaising with the public library, photography, videography, and even the writing and creation of a 40-page Open Mic Nights Zine to be sold to raise funds for the open mic.

In fact, I'll blow my own horn here and say that I'm the reason this open mic has gotten organized so quickly and efficiently and why it has been running so well. I was the driver, so to speak. I've also been very supportive and encouraging of all the performers involved, and I've encouraged newbies to join us despite their nerves, as well. IE. lots of emotional energy has been expended, as well as physical/intellectual.

We had put on two smaller open mics before this one, and I read some of my work at both events to a good reception.

I've written before on the blog about my long history of being censored, something I partially associate with a tense Mercury-Black Moon Lilith contact in my natal chart. From January 29, 2019: "Mercury-Black Moon Lilith Contacts, Censorship, and Reporting From the Fringes"

In a fit of high irony, I actually read from that article at the first open mic!

My second open mic reading was on zines, and I read an excerpt from my own recent zine on toxic oil flaring on the prairies, titled, "Dystopian Flames."

No one expressed any discomfort or problems with the information I was throwing down.

At the third open mic, with Venus in feisty late Aries square Pluto in Capricorn and conjunct Uranus in early Taurus, I recited my folk-punk song titled, "The Nazis Got Me With Fluoride Pills," and shared some purely-factual information about Bayer and Monsanto's corporate practises. I also mentioned the upcoming worldwide march against Bayer-Monsanto on May 18 - on the very day the Venus-Uranus conjunction becomes exact at 4 degrees Taurus.

In other words, the reading was topical. I asked to read it later in the night, toward the more "adult hours." I also said in the reading that I was sorry if people found it controversial but that I was speaking the truth. It came straight from my own personal experience with fluoroquinolone antibiotic poisoning and from my own work exposing crimes against humanity being committed by Big Pharma. It wasn't just a random political rant. I actually never go off on random political rants, to be honest.

And it seemed there was a good reception to the reading again. I was told by one performer that he "loved it," and I was thanked by an audience member for reading it. She was also interested in marching with me on May 18.

But yesterday morning, I woke up to a message from the 15-year-old (strongly influenced by her family, I assume) that had been somewhat sneakily sent to another group member without my knowledge.

"I feel that we originally came up with the idea as a way to bring artists and musicians together, and I feel that the political and opinionated topics, brought forth by [Willow], are counterproductive. I am all for having our own opinions and beliefs, however, I view the open mic as a platform of love and everyone coming together through music and art. I am also all for the spoken word, such as poetry or a story. I feel as though being aware of who your audience is is an extremely important piece to performing, and i believe that the open mics are supposed to be a family-friendly event where anyone, no matter their political views or beliefs, should be able to enjoy without becoming uncomfortable. I do know a handful of people who had this experience when [Willow] read her piece, and I think that is unfair for the audience."

There are a lot of things I think are wrong with this email, and I'll go through these now so as to energetically and verbally set some new parameters for the arts (Venus) under transiting Uranus in Taurus!

1. Art was never meant to make you feel comfortable. In fact, some of the best art has the exact opposite effect. True artists are expressing vision, perspectives, and ideas that others do not have. These are often outside the norm. They often expose things that are hidden, downplayed, or denied in mainstream culture. And yes, this can be uncomfortable, particularly for those of a more mainstream lifestyle and mindset who are usually sheltered from such things. That's art for you. That's creative expression. It isn't all designed to make you feel warm and fuzzy, and that's honestly what's great about it. It rattles people's cages, changes their perspectives, shakes them out of their complacency - or at least, it tries.

2. Art does not have to be apolitical or non-controversial. I'm not sure where that idea even came from. Art does not have to be "just for fun." The currently highly apolitical arts scene often acts as more of a diversion, a distraction, or an illusion rather than producing anything truly meaningful at a soulful or a sociopolitical level. We are in crisis times on this planet, and these times require our awareness and action. If even our art is not allowed to express this, we're in serious trouble.

3. I'm not sure of the definition of "spoken word" being used here, but have you ever heard Jello Biafra's spoken word? From the "famous" punk band Dead Kennedys? How about a dude named Henry Rollins? Are these guys getting censored at open mics, too? So if world-famous Jello Biafra or Henry Rollins wanted to do spoken word at our lowly open mic, they wouldn't be welcome, just as I'm not welcome?

4. There are many ways to show love with creative expression and not just in "positivity"-pushing ways. (Positivity-pushing is actually a distinctly non-positive practise, in my opinon...) What I do is done purely out of love for this planet and for the living things here. That's why I care enough to do this (often very heavy and very unsupported) work. That's why I work so hard to expose the people and power schemes that are hurting us, while educating people on this so they can protect themselves. Why do you think people like me would do decades of unpaid activist work, all while being shit on, censored, blackballed, shut out, vilified, ostracized, plagiarized, mocked, and straight-out attacked as we do it? If that isn't pure love for this Earth, I don't know what is! I don't find it "loving" to bury your head in the sand or to deny reality. I don't find it "loving" to paint people with a more hardcore message or who practise a more hardcore art form as negative or counter-productive just because they make you squirm a little.

5. Open Mic? I think you'd better change that to Heavily-Filtered Mic. By their very nature, there's a wild card element to open mics, especially with a mixed arts open mic like this one. You don't really know who's going to get up there or what they're going to do for the crowd, and that's part of what makes it fun and interesting. If you don't like what someone is throwing down, get up and take a little walk down the street for 10 or 20 minutes until they're done. Go have a smoke. Go answer an email on your phone. Make your own political statement by walking out! You will not always love or even like everything that comes out of an open mic (I don't, either), but you do not have the right to censor, discourage, or blackball people whose work you deem "too political," "too opinionated," or "counter-productive" to your feel-good lovefest version of the arts.

The gal who wrote that email is a phenomenal singer and musician for 15 years of age. She does rock-and-roll covers and prides herself on the fact that they do harder rock songs that people might not expect from a teen band. But I do think she's missing the entire spirit underlying the songs she's belting out. Rock-and-roll was spawned out of rebellion, non-conformity, a desire to shake up the status quo. It made a lot of people uncomfortable. It shocked a lot of people.

This gal has received a huge amount of praise, attention, and support for her music since she was a child. Other artists are not that lucky. Not even close. She's lucky that what she produces is palatable for the mainstream. She could be fighting a daily, uphill battle with her creative expression like me and most of the other anti-establishment, freedom-fighting individuals out there.

It's my view that the apolitical mainstream arts scene is part of the reason we're in such a big mess on this planet to begin with. Writers, musicians, and artists of a more anti-establishment, intellectual, or sociopolitical bent are shut out, dismissed, or blackballed while more palatable, middle-of-the-road "art" is constantly promoted and reinforced. The more anti-establishment arts simply do not have the same public platforms or opportunities - ostracized even at a lowly open mic in a town of less than 10,000 people! And so we have a very cleansed and skewed reality being reflected back to us in the arts of the day. We have people doing covers of their favourite rock songs to great fanfare without a real understanding of the spirit underlying those songs, without the rebel heart and soul that originally spawned those works.

With Venus coming together with Uranus, boundaries are certainly an issue. But there is a distinct difference between boundaries and censorship or blackballing.

We're setting the tone for a new social/relational foundation as Venus and Uranus form their first exact conjunction of the Uranus in Taurus transit, exact May 18. This is a benchmark aspect for everyone, not just for people in the arts.

However, the influence of radical (Uranus) politics in the arts (Venus) is a strong theme now. I'm not asking everyone to like what I do. I'm not asking everyone to become more radical in their thinking. I'm just asking for the place at the table that I've already earned. And so far, it has not exactly been forthcoming.

Let's hope for better times ahead on the other side of this Venus-Uranus conjunction.
