The Astrology of the Punk Movement: Saturn in Leo in Closing Square to Uranus in Scorpio (1975 to 1977)

Some Good Punk Advice - Duct Tape Art by Willow

Saturn is stationing retrograde today at 25 degrees Aquarius (3:47 p.m. CST) in a loose square aspect to Uranus at 16 degrees Taurus. The transiting Leo Moon (art, creativity, style) activates the Saturn-Uranus square today and tomorrow as it forms squares to Uranus, the North Node of the Moon, and Mercury in Taurus and an opposition to Saturn in Aquarius.

Saturn will now retrograde in a tightening square to Uranus, stationing direct at 18 degrees Aquarius on October 22 in a square to Uranus at 17 degrees Taurus, just one degree off an exact aspect. The Saturn-Uranus square will be most strongly in effect from September equinox to December solstice, indicating a final quarter of 2022 characterized by further structural changes, adjustments, and re-positioning.

The Saturn in Aquarius square to Uranus in Taurus was most strongly in effect throughout 2021 with three exact aspects: February 17, 2021 at 7 degrees; June 14, 2021 at 13 degrees; and December 23, 2021 at 11 degrees. The energy and themes of this square start to intensify once again as we move through the summertime ease and into fall of 2022.

Saturn in Aquarius is currently in a closing square aspect to Uranus in Taurus, kicking off the last 10 years of a larger cycle. The current Saturn-Uranus cycle (1988 to 2032) began with a Saturn-Uranus conjunction in Sagittarius in 1988, and it will come to its natural conclusion with a Saturn-Uranus conjunction in Gemini in 2032.

Saturn square Uranus indicates rebellion (Uranus) from the establishment (Saturn), a desire to break free from the corrupted and stultifying status quo. We've seen these themes in spades in 2021/22 under a "locked down" planet being coerced, manipulated, lied to, and harmed by pyramid scheme power mongers.

In many ways, astrology is the study of natural cycles and patterns. We look to aspects and events from the past to inform us about our present and our future.

We saw similar themes during the official birth of punk in 1977 under a closing square between Saturn in Leo and Uranus in Scorpio. That closing square aspect was exact five times: October 4, 1975 at 1 degree; October 17, 1975 at 2 degrees; July 1, 1976 at 3 degrees; February 23, 1977 at 11 degrees; and April 22, 1977 at 10 degrees. That closing square series was part of a Saturn-Uranus cycle (1942 to 1988) that began with a Saturn-Uranus conjunction in Taurus in 1942 and ended with a Saturn-Uranus conjunction in Sagittarius in 1988.

In both cycles, Saturn and Uranus were squaring off in fixed signs, indicating very hard-won progress within difficult circumstances. With the fixed signs, it can be hard to budge things in a new direction, but once progress is made, it has long-term staying power.

We saw the punk scene flower and intensify at the end of the Saturn-Uranus closing square series in 1977, and this indicates the possibility for more do-it-yourself, screw-the-establishment creative flowering as we come to the end of the current closing square series between Saturn and Uranus in late 2022.

Under a Leo Moon stirring previous (Moon) creative efforts (Leo), this is a re-post of an article I wrote for Hexagon Astrology Magazine on the astrology of the punk movement. This astrology included the closing square between Saturn in Leo and Uranus in Scorpio.

Disclaimer: I realize this article is terribly American-centric and that there is an equally strong, maybe even stronger, argument that punk was born out of the intense class struggles of 1970s England. This article is talking about the phenomenon of punk bursting onto the mainstream radar screen, though, and I do believe it was the New York City punk scene that brought punk to that "bigger, bolder, and more famous" platform, for better or for worse.

Astrology of the Punk Movement

by Willow from Willow's Web Astrology

The exact date of birth for the punk movement can be debated, but amongst those in the know, there is no doubt about the year punk was officially unleashed on the planet: it was 1977.

There is also no doubt about the location of punk’s birthplace: New York City.

New York City in 1977.

The collective psyche of the United States of America was in tatters at the time in the aftermath of the Vietnam War.

The United States – and much of the world – was left reeling after two decades of mass graves, napalmed children, and American flag-draped serviceman caskets floating in nightmare images across their television screens.

The war waged by the United States against the Vietnamese officially ended in 1975 after two full decades of warfare. Somewhere between 800,000 and three million Vietnamese had been slaughtered, along with hundreds of thousands of Cambodians and Laotians and more than 58,000 U.S. soldiers.

The average age of a U.S. soldier killed in Vietnam was 23 years old.

By 1977, the peace-and-love hippie movement had reached a peak and was dissipating.

The anti-war activists and counter-culturalists were exhausted, strung out.

Disco was on the airwaves, attempting to block disturbing reality with catchy beats, funky dance moves, and shiny costumes.

The time was ripe for a big social reaction.

Respectful Rebellion Under the Final Exact Saturn-Uranus Square

We experience the third and final closing square aspect between Saturn in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus tonight (exact at 1:17 a.m. Central on December 24). The first two exact Saturn-Uranus squares occurred on February 17 and June 14, 2021. This prolonged square aspect, strongly in effect throughout 2021, has indicated a year of instability and uncertainty with near-constant structural change. This has meant we've had to stretch our personal adaptation skills to extreme and uncomfortable points at times throughout this year.

I've written about the themes of respectful (Saturn) rebellion (Uranus) associated with Taskmaster Saturn square Cosmic Agitator Uranus, and I'm including a previous article on the subject (lightly updated) to draw attention to these themes as the third and final Saturn-Uranus square becomes exact tonight. Vigilance on these points will be required long after this square is out of orb.

In general terms, the transit of Saturn in Aquarius (March 21, 2020 to March 7, 2023) indicates a challenge laid at our feet to build, establish, and reinforce (Saturn) the type of future and the type of communities (Aquarius) we wish to live within.

Do we wish to live in a human-centred world where we work to meet the real needs of the people, or do we wish to live in an artificial, technology-dominated world where human beings are a commodity to be controlled, data-mined, and exploited? Do we wish to live a natural life, a life as part of nature, or do we wish to live an artificial life of virtual reality? The influence of technology, particularly top-down control (Saturn) through technology (Aquarius), is a major theme for the Saturn in Aquarius transit.

[With Saturn in Aquarius square Uranus in Taurus throughout 2021], we're locked into a period of acute structural change. Many things are changing on many fronts, and people could be sort of losing it under this extremely uncertain and hard-to-pin-down energy. The word "unhinged" comes to mind. Things flying loose. Extreme adaptations to changing conditions. Anxieties or dread nipping at us from multiple angles. Difficulty staying grounded or feeling safe in the material world.

We're required to put extra effort into stability, reliability, normalcy, routine, and personal traditions in order to come through this year in good standing, without being emotionally shredded or left in a shambles by the often-harsh energies.

Both our emotional and physical anchors must be tended, reinforced, and protected throughout the year and particularly around the times when the Saturn-Uranus square is at its tightest.

The Danger of Reliving the Fall of Atlantis During the Pluto in Aquarius Transit (2023 - 2044)

Nukes on the Moon, 100,000 Satellites Weaponizing Space, and Technocratic Scientific Arrogance Running Amok

As first Saturn, then Jupiter, then Pluto ingress Aquarius between 2020 and 2023, we're experiencing a fairly extreme immersion into the perils and problems of technocratic scientific arrogance. There is an astrologically-timed advancement underway of a technology-dominated version of life on this planet that is entirely to the detriment of most of the biological life here.

I've written about this attempted technocratic takeover in previous articles, including this one:

Major Aquarius Ingresses 2020 - 2023: Resisting 5G Technology, Energy Weapons, and the Creation of Digitized Dystopian Hell

This is the type of Aquarian Age arrogance that makes billionaire madmen into false Gods, celebrating and hero-worshiping them as they commit unimaginable horrors against life on this planet simply because they have the money, the power, and the public relations team to do it.

The insanity knows no bounds.

NASA is planning to put a nuclear power plant on the moon by 2026

This should go without saying, but no one has the right to contaminate the Moon, the celestial bodies, or space in general with nuclear waste or any other form of toxic radiation.

I posted that "nuke on the Moon" article on my (anti-nuclear) Fukushima message board at Ruqqus and had to delete it because it was swarmed by pro-nuke Millennials and Gen Z-ers who thought it was an absolutely grand idea.

The thing that should be realized is that Millennials and Generation Z have been indoctrinated since birth into thinking that nuclear and wireless are "safe, clean, and green" and that they will "save us from climate change." They believe that being chauffeured around in nuclear-powered autonomous electric cars is the answer to our environmental woes. They believe that faster download speeds and refrigerators that tell you when they need refilling are absolute necessities of modern day living, even if it means constant irradiation, monitoring, and surveillance through the 5G grid.

It's terrifically unfortunate that the dangers and horrors of radiation, nuclear power, nuclear weapons, and nuclear waste have not been passed down through the generations at a mass level. It's a highly whitewashed, "radiation is (mostly) safe, and nuclear power is our best option" version of reality that is being implanted in young minds these days.

I've heard the same arguments from young nuke-lovers (and young 5G wireless-lovers) again and again on heavy replay. This is a sample.

Respectful Rebellion with Saturn Stationing Retrograde in Aquarius Square Uranus in Taurus

Saturn's pulling into the station

Photos: Willow

Saturn Retrograde: May 23 to October 10, 2021 from 13 degrees to 6 degrees Aquarius

Venus Out of Bounds: May 23 to June 18 and October 9 to December 7, 2021

Taskmaster Saturn goes retrograde at 13 degrees Aquarius on May 23 (2:19 a.m. Pacific). As Saturn appears to slow and then stop in the zodiac, the energy and themes of this planet become concentrated and our burdens and responsibilities can feel dreadfully heavy to carry. Saturn can be a real drag, and we can be more highly aware of just how big a drag during stations like this.

At the same time, Saturn stations indicate a point when position, status, and authority can be shored up or cemented into place. If we've been working long and hard for some type of progress in our lives or out in the world, Saturn stations can be times when we see the fruits of our labour. We get a moment to pause, to reflect, to check our status, and this provides a vantage point from which we can view just how far we've come. Events may also be kicked up around the time of Saturn stations to test us on just how well we've learned previous lessons.

Saturn Rx will now back into a second exact square to Cosmic Agitator Uranus in Taurus (June 14), and as the squeeze of this square aspect intensifies, we're locked into a period of acute structural change.

Heading Off Socially-Engineered Technocratic Tyranny in the Pluto in Aquarius Years (2023 - 2044): Ban 5G Worldwide!

As we moved through the first quarter of 2021, Jupiter and Saturn were traveling in conjunction in Aquarius. The exact conjunction of these two bodies, initiating a new 20-year cycle, was exact on December 21, 2020 at 0 degrees Aquarius. Jupiter and Saturn have now moved out of orb of this conjunction, but the imprint they've created will be with us for many years and even decades.

Aquarius is a sign related to technology, science, robotics, automation, humanity, communities, friendship, global elements, win-win scenarios, humanitarianism, eugenics, and social engineering, among other things.

Saturn first cracked the seal on the sign of Aquarius from March 21 to July 1, 2020. This period coincided with the rapid rollout of 5G infrastructure in countries around the world as the powers-that-be attempted to cement (Saturn) a technological advancement (Aquarius) that would provide them with unprecedented control over human beings, human communities, and life and energy on the planet. In effect, this was a concrete attempted takeover by the Technocracy, pushing a brand of globalized, top-down social engineering that would "transform" our societies and lives without our permission.

Saturn re-entered Aquarius on December 16, 2020 for a transit that lasts until March 7, 2023. Jupiter followed into the sign on December 19, 2020 for a year-long transit that lasts until December 29, 2021.

With the addition of Jupiter in Aquarius, 2021 marks an attempted expansion of this technology-based control grid, along with lock-step advancement of Technocratic social engineering around the world. A key element of this involves indoctrination into the United Nations' Agenda 2030/Agenda 21 and its "Sustainable Development Goals." 5G-driven Smart Cities are a major component of this so-called "green" agenda.

All this is being described in glowing terms by the telecommunications industry, government, and mainstream media, as a highly benevolent (Jupiter) and much-needed advancement (Aquarius) for human society.

They also talk about it as if it's a done deal.

It isn't. Far from it.

And this is where the people come in - the Aquarian community of people who simply will not live in this way. Pluto in Aquarius (2023 - 2044) is a transit that can empower people around the world to resist technology-backed authoritarianism while creating and living a preferable alternative, solving their own problems directly.

The establishment holds a false version of power (Pluto) that must be enforced through fear, coercion, manipulation, intimidation, deceit, and violence.

We hold the true power, the power of what is good and right, of what is in the true best interests of living things on this planet.

Don't forget this distinction, especially in times when it (falsely) appears that the power-hungry nogoodniks of Planet Earth are prevailing.

Uranus in Taurus: the 5G-Driven "Smart Farming" Scheme as an Attempt to Make Farmers and Ranchers Obsolete on Their Own Land

As we move through the first month of 2021, Jupiter and Saturn are traveling in conjunction through the first decan of Aquarius. The exact conjunction of these two bodies, initiating a new 20-year cycle, was exact on December 21, 2020 at 0 degrees Aquarius.

Aquarius is a sign related to technology, science, humanity, communities, friendship, global elements, win-win scenarios, humanitarianism, eugenics, and social engineering, among other things.

All this is being described in glowing terms by the telecommunications industry, government, and mainstream media, as a highly benevolent (Jupiter) and much-needed advancement (Aquarius) for human society. They also talk about it as if it's a done deal. It isn't. Far from it.

I've written about Smart Cities, Technocracy, and the importance of establishing our spiritual sovereignty in a recent article: Spiritual Sovereignty as the Long Game Ahead of the Next Saturn-Pluto Conjunction

The Saturn in Aquarius transit leads almost seamlessly into the Pluto in Aquarius transit (March 2023 to January 2044). Pluto enters Aquarius on March 24, 2023, just as Saturn exits the sign.

With Saturn and now Jupiter in Aquarius, we're getting a sneak peek at the deadly (Pluto) possibilities of technology (Aquarius). We're getting a sneak peek at the social engineering and control planned for the Pluto in Aquarius years, including Smart City and Smart Farm life with the Internet of Things monitoring, tracking, surveilling, and then dictating our every move and even thought. These sneak peeks are showing us something very ugly, very inhumane, and very insane. If we don't become consciously aware of this - with full Plutonic awareness - the ugliness, inhumanity, and insanity will only deepen, dramatically, during the Pluto in Aquarius transit.

The 5G grid is exposing us to horrifically dangerous levels of electromagnetic radiation, levels to which human beings, animals, and plants have never before been exposed.

It is a proven fact that non-ionizing radiation causes biological effects leading to health damage and a staggering number of symptoms and diseases. You can see some of the studies showing this here, here, and here.

Let's be very clear about this:

5G exposure is making people sick.

5G exposure is killing people.

5G will continue making people sick and killing people as the levels of damaging frequency intensify. This is only the beginning of the utterly insane rollout of this global scheme.

Electromagnetically sensitive people, the elderly, and people with underlying health conditions are the 5G canaries in the coal mine, but the effects will not be limited to these groups, especially not long-term.

A Re-Post: Parallels Between the Aquarius Stellium of February 1962 and the Aquarius Stellium of February 2021

As we enter 2021, the major astrological event on the horizon is a six-planet or seven-body stellium in Aquarius, including a New Moon at 23 degrees Aquarius on February 11. The energy of this stellium stretches to mid-March.

During the stellium, we will experience the first of three squares between Saturn in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus. The first square will be exact on February 17 at 7 degrees of the signs.

What follows is a re-post of an article that was written last Aquarius season [2020] for the anniversary of a February 4, 1962 New Moon total solar eclipse within seven-planet stellium in Aquarius. That astrological event was, at the time, heralded as the official beginning of the Aquarian Age.

The article outlines some of the parallels between the two periods - the Aquarius stellium and New Moon in 1962 and the Aquarius stellium and New Moon in 2021.

A December 8, 2020 patron article outlines these connections further, extending them to the next large Aquarius stellium in 2080:

The Aquarius Stellium of 2021 as the Centre of a Continuum: Drawing on Ripples from 60 Years in the Past and Sending Ripples 60 Years into the Future

New Moon in Aquarius within six-planet stellium with Venus and Jupiter conjunct - February 11, 2021

We're halfway through the first Aquarius season of this new decade, but the Aquarius season really drawing my attention at the moment comes in 2021 when we experience a 23-degree New Moon in Aquarius within a historic six-planet stellium that occurs with benefic planets Venus and Jupiter exactly conjunct at 12 degrees.

We start moving to that Aquarian high point at spring equinox of 2020, as Saturn ingresses Aquarius on March 21, 2020 for an initial stint in the sign that will last three-and-a-half months. The Saturn ingress is part of a broader Aquarian infusion that will be experienced between 2020 and 2023 as Saturn, then Jupiter, and finally Pluto ingress the sign of the water-bearer.

As part of that Aquarian infusion, we will experience a historic conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn at zero degrees Aquarius on December 21, 2020 (winter solstice), followed by the Aquarius New Moon at 23 degrees on February 11, 2021 within six-planet stellium (Sun, Moon, Mercury Rx, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn, along with asteroid Pallas Athene). As stated, benefic planets Venus and Jupiter will be exactly conjunct in Aquarius on the day of the New Moon, indicating an entry point into a powerful period of social, cultural, and philosophical change.

The six-planet stellium in Aquarius in February 2021 has parallels to a seven-planet stellium in Aquarius experienced in February 1962 that was heralded as the official beginning of the Aquarian Age.

We are in the early years of a new decade now, as we were then, that will involve explosive social, cultural, and technological growth and change. The Aquarius stellium in 1962 included a New Moon total solar eclipse at 15 degrees Aquarius, marking a simultaneous anchoring point and launch point for the major cultural shifts experienced during the 1960s. We can view the New Moon and six-planet stellium in Aquarius in February 2021 as a similar anchoring/launching point for major cultural and societal changes in the 2020s.

Faux Aquarian Corporate Do-Gooding and Mastering the Plutonic Sociological Imagination as Pluto Nears the End of its Transit of Capricorn

As Jupiter and Saturn prepare to leave Capricorn (corporations, institutions, structure) for Aquarius (groups, global issues, social engineering), our intelligence is being terribly insulted with the announcement of a new group of self-appointed corporate global "Guardians," brought together by Pope Francis and the Vatican.

From December 9, 2020: Pope Francis Partners With Corporate Titans To Make Capitalism More Inclusive And Fair: Is This For Real Or Just Corporate Virtue Signaling? by Jack Kelly

This group, calling itself the Council for Inclusive Capitalism, claims it will come together to save the world through hiring more women and people of colour, switching to renewable energy, and promoting the recycling of water.

This is common Aquarian Era schtick, and we must be aware of these transparent, faux do-gooding manipulations ahead of the Pluto in Aquarius years (2023 to 2044). Saturn transits Aquarius from 2020 to 2023, and there is a major attempt to establish and cement these types of "woke corporate" manipulations ahead of the Pluto transit. It's corporate re-branding for the Aquarian Era with strong themes involving global organization, (false) humanitarianism, "green" environmentalism, and the supposed elevation of humanity.

The list of self-appointed global corporate "Guardians" is absolutely farcical, including Rockefeller, Rothschild, Dupont, and British Petroleum, among other highly illustrious members, not to mention the Vatican itself.

The corporations and groups declaring themselves our trusted global "Guardians" are some of the worst criminals on Earth, including literal mass murderers. Let's be very clear on this - using renewable energy and hiring women and minorities does not miraculously make these criminals into good people when they've knowingly profited - and continue to profit - from the injury and murder of millions.

As Pluto transitions between Capricorn and Aquarius, the multi-billion dollar transnational corporations and institutions (Capricorn) that have created so much misery and toxicity on this planet will now attempt to morph into Humanitarian Global Governor Superheroes (Aquarius). They've profited massively from the problems they've created and will now attempt to cash in by selling us the supposed solutions - still steeped in the same control, coercion, and corruption at their Plutonic core.

It is, in fact, the owners and executives of many of these corporations and institutions who should be under the watch of "Guardians" - prison guards in maximum security prisons.

The Aquarius Stellium of 2021 as the Centre of a Continuum: Drawing on Ripples from 60 Years in the Past and Sending Ripples 60 Years into the Future

1962

February 1962: 7-planet stellium in Aquarius - click to enlarge

Sun, Moon, Mercury Rx, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and South Node of the Moon

Lesser Benefic Venus and Greater Benefic Jupiter are tightly conjunct.

This chart is the New Moon total solar eclipse at 15 degrees Aquarius on February 4, 1962. This was heralded as the beginning of the astrological Aquarian Era. We can see this as an early propulsion into stronger Aquarian energy and themes but still with a strong Piscean Era overlay.

This New Moon stellium followed the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn at 25 degrees Capricorn on February 19, 1961.

2021

February 2021: 6-planet or 7-body stellium in Aquarius - click to enlarge

Sun, Moon, Mercury Rx, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, and asteroid Pallas Athene

Lesser Benefic Venus and Greater Benefic Jupiter are exactly conjunct.

This chart is for the New Moon at 23 degrees Aquarius on February 11, 2021. We can see this as an anchoring or foundational point for the astrological Aquarian Era, building on vision and energetic threads coming from the 1962 New Moon eclipse and stellium. In 2021, we have come out of the most intense “one foot in, one foot out” overlapping transition time between the astrological eras. We are now officially being established on Aquarian Era soil. The separation of the ages has occurred, but unlearned or unheeded lessons from the Piscean Era must be immediately integrated if we are to avoid problems or even full-on catastrophe.

The New Moon stellium in Aquarius on February 11, 2021 follows the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction at zero degrees Aquarius on December 21, 2020.

2080

February 2080: 8-planet stellium in Aquarius - click to enlarge

Sun, Moon, Mercury Rx, Venus, Ceres, Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus

Lesser Benefic Venus and Greater Benefic Jupiter are exactly conjunct, and both bodies are in applying conjunctions to Saturn.

As you can see, with no bodies in Pisces or in water at all, the Piscean Era is moreso in the rearview mirror under the 2080 Aquarius stellium. The version of life on Earth we see here is dependent on many things, including how well we’ve protected the spiritual energy, principles, and wisdom of Earth since the Aquarius stellium of 2021. Which version of the Aquarian Era do we see in 2080: a free humanity independently meeting its own needs and fostering its own well-being, including via technological advances, or a controlled humanity with technological shackles, even merging our biological human forms with machines or other technological elements?

The Jupiter-Saturn conjunction occurs at 11 degrees Aquarius on March 15, 2080, just after the formation of this 8-planet stellium.

Amazingly, in all three of these large Aquarius stelliums – 1962, 2021, and 2080 – Greater Benefic Jupiter and Lesser Benefic Venus are tightly or exactly conjunct. The meeting of the benefics indicates good will in all three charts. These Aquarian threads that connect us through time, space, and location have their roots in love and benevolence toward humanity and the human community. These threads are about the importance of relationship and friendship, the importance of the social fabric as it sustains us through the eras. These threads connect those of like mind who have compatible ideas and also those of like heart who have shared love for this planet and for the living things here. These threads connect those who share a heartfelt dream for humanity and for life on this planet, people who have cherished and preserved this heartfelt dream no matter what their era. These threads are about a shared concept of human potential, as well as a willingness to create the conditions that can realize that potential.

These charts with Venus and Jupiter conjunct show a love for humanity and for all life on this planet that is timeless. They show a shared dream and a shared vision that span the eras. Anyone who has lived on this planet and loved this planet is connected at the heart. This is real love, real brotherly and sisterly love, reflected in the beautiful astrological symbology of these charts. We live, we have lived, under the same sky, connected at the heart as Venus and Jupiter conjoin brightly in the heavens. We live or have lived under these stelliums, so similar in energy and make-up. You can never step into the same river twice, but experiencing life under stelliums like these might be as close as it gets astrologically.
