Equinox-ing, Tipping Toward the Sun, and Watching Each Others' Backs For Dirty Piscean Tricks

Happy Equinox!

We are now coming out of the 29-degree Pisces New Moon total solar eclipse March 20 that kicked off spring with a bang in the northern hemisphere. The "backdrop change" themes of that eclipse are now carried through Aries season (March 20 - April 20).

We're opening into an all-encompassing new expression of Pisces over the next 28 days - an expression that will carry us successfully into the astrological Aquarian era. We've been putting these "new-era Pisces" themes into practise for quite some time now, but this is final exam time.

Communication planet Mercury is closing in on a conjunction to wounded healer Chiron in Pisces on March 24, and the wounded and wounding themes of the astrological Piscean era are very much on our minds. Under the influence of this aspect, our troubles may seem more overwhelming than usual. Our damage may seem more unmanageable than usual. But take heart. We pretty much all feel this way at the moment.

If Pisces teaches us anything, it's that individual struggles are actually shared struggles. Individual problems almost always connect to a common root, shared by many through time and space, and we certainly share many very large issues amongst us on Planet Earth at the moment.

(The ongoing nuclear meltdowns at Fukushima, Japan and the oil/Corexit contamination of the Gulf of Mexico are two of the larger open Chiron in Pisces wounds, pertaining to the oceans (Pisces)).

The Mercury-Chiron aspect is past exact as most of us wake up on Tuesday (7:15 a.m. CST), though the themes will be colouring our experiences for the rest of the week.

Intensity Buffers

Communication planet Mercury has just nicely settled into Pisces (late on March 12) after an extended stay in highly-cerebral Aquarius since January 4, including a retrograde period from January 21 to February 11. That extended stay in Aquarius pretty much blistered our brains with an overload of flash-bang Uranian insights since the beginning of the year.

Whether you found the Mercury in Aquarius transit of 2015 simply intense or downright traumatic, it was definitely one for the history books. The house or houses where Aquarius lies in your natal chart was the fertile territory for mental rewiring, information downloads, and the intense "new era" crossover being experienced throughout the first months of 2015.

We are required to change our thinking in certain ways in order to be successful moving forward into the new era. The at-times overbearing challenges of the Mercury transit and retrograde through Aquarius pertained directly to that process.

Now, Mercury has glided into surreal-and-dreamy Pisces, where it will stay until breaking new ground in Aries March 30 (7:44 p.m. CST). This transit of Mercury through Pisces gives us a much-needed mental rest, allowing our minds to just drift for a while. We're bobbing along in a more passive and surrendered mental state (what else can we do but surrender at this point?) with the universe bringing us information and bits of necessary perspective in oddly serendipitous ways.

During the Mercury in Pisces transit, we will start to see the spiritual connections and the threads that link us to others through time and space, in struggle and in love, but the universe has a mind (and a timing) of its own. We're in a more transcendant mental space now, surrendering certain worries and concerns that dogged us relentlessly during Mercury in Aquarius, and this is a sweet relief.

Pisces is considered a sign of Mercury's detriment, being a sign opposite one it naturally rules (Virgo), and this is generally considered a challenging placement. It can be difficult to communicate our perceptions clearly or in a concise way with Mercury in Pisces. It can be difficult to know what our perceptions even are, exactly. Pisces is a sign of dreams, ghosts, illusions, going-with-the-flow, spiritual guidance, and otherworldly connections - all things that are diffuse, boundary-less, and hard to define in Mercurial terms. There can be some confusion, forgetfulness, and brain fog associated with Mercury in Pisces, attuned as it is to the otherworldly as much (or more so) than to the concrete, physical world.

However, the softened definitions and rosy hues of Pisces are just what our over-taxed synapses need following the Mercury in Aquarius transit. Even the more challenging aspects of Mercury in Pisces should be fairly welcome at this point.

With Mercury transiting Pisces until the end of the month, our dreams and "the other side" will be communicating with us more vividly than usual. We may need more unconscious processing time (ie. sleep) than usual. Drifting away from intensive conversation or social media connection could be just what our tired brains require. Allow for more unstructured time, less scheduling, fewer details, and a lighter mental load until the end of the month.

Mercury in Pisces squares Saturn in Sagittarius tomorrow morning (3:41 a.m.) before forming conjunctions to Neptune (March 18 at 2:49 a.m.) and then wounded healer Chiron in Pisces (March 24 at 7:15 a.m.). These Mercury aspects all occur in the morning, indicating again that there is a lot going on, a lot being processed, as we slumber. Some disrupted sleep patterns can be expected over the next couple weeks as we move through a roller coaster of an eclipse season...

We have a second intensity buffer on its way this week with Venus entering home-sweet-home Taurus on March 17 (4:15 a.m.) for a transit that lasts until April 11. This adds some much-needed Earth Mama energy and loveliness to the proceedings. Basic, simple, natural, healing, nourishing.

Venus has been transiting the sign of its detriment, warrior-esque Aries, while triggering the Uranus-Pluto square, so coming home to Taurus provides some much needed calm, grounding, and relaxation. It has been quite a triggered and sometimes-hostile transit of Venus through hot-blooded Aries (February 20 - March 17) as we battled our way into new relationship territory, and the ingress into earth sign Taurus allows us to move out of "high alert," particularly in relationships and with money matters. Things start to settle out a little on the other side of the Uranus-Pluto square March 16, and Venus in Taurus leads the way.

Venus and Mars came together in a conjunction at 1 degree Aries on February 21, 2015, propelling relationships into white-hot "new era" territory, like it or not. This was then taken up a few notches as both Venus and Mars in Aries activated the Uranus-Pluto square, creating relationship turmoil, upheaval, and re-positioning particularly between March 4 and March 11. More can be read on those aspects here: Just a Little "Intensity Heads Up"

We can expect further upheaval, changes, and developments along "new-era relationship re-positioning" lines as we move to the Libra Full Moon total lunar eclipse on April 4, followed by both the Sun and Mercury in Aries triggering the Uranus-Pluto square April 5 - 7. More will be shaken out there, new directions will be taken, and much of the current positioning in relationships and social scenes will likely be temporary. Expect things to be rocking and rolling on the relationship/social fronts during the first 10 days of April.

The Main Event

The Moon is currently transiting Scorpio (until it surfaces in Sagittarius at 5:30 p.m. CST on March 11), which means the general emotional climate is coloured strongly by dispositor bad boys Mars in Aries tightly square Pluto in Capricorn. You can cut the tension with a knife.

The emotional state is deep, dark, and compacted with some simmering rage possible. No one, and I mean no one, is in the mood to be messed with over the next few days.

Things are moving in and out of "crisis state." But most of us are used to this by now. Some of us were born used to it.

Mars in Aries will trigger the applying Uranus-Pluto square exactly on March 11, forming a conjunction to Uranus (10:06 a.m.) and a square to Pluto (4:41 p.m.). Something's about to blow - unless we can ease the pressure somehow.

All this is going on as Saturn slows to station retrograde March 14 (9:02 a.m.) and Uranus and Pluto form their seventh and final exact square aspect March 16 (8:54 p.m.). The state of things is weighing heavily upon us. Keep breathing; keep moving.

This is the final event of the Uranus-Pluto square series (2012 - 2015). The Big Show. The one we've been working toward. Capitalize wherever you can.

We have the momentum to move mountains now, to change detrimental patterns that have been with us for generations - so long as we find the courage to make the necessary changes and then stick with them.

Where do you dearly desire to create change in your life? The universe is supporting this now in a way that we will likely never experience again. So don't hold back. Don't settle for less. It's do-or-die, now-or-never.

Clinging to the way things have always been is the best way to get walloped by this square aspect between the planet of upheaval and shock, Uranus, and the planet of transformation and endings, Pluto.

Be ready to move. Be ready to change. Be ready to grow in unexpected (yet required) ways. Be ready to have your heart dropped into the dirt a few times, but we're moving too fast to spend much time dwelling on it. This is the big surge and the big purge all in one.

We are absolutely hurtling into the 29-degree New Moon total solar eclipse in Pisces on March 20 (3:36 a.m.). This is the New Moon to end all New Moons. Or rather, it's the New Moon that begins all Aquarian Age New Moons. This is a New Moon on the very last degree of the zodiac, and it's a full, total eclipse backdrop change.

This is the end of the astrological Piscean era. It's sad and devastating and exciting and exhilarating all at the same time.

From a previous post:

"We're blowing some major Piscean-era karma - personal and/or collective - out of the way here, and it may be a bit of a bumpy ride. We're advancing beyond old siren songs, mirages, illusions, disappointments, and old-era traps, and only Uranus and Pluto moving full speed direct into this final square in the cardinal signs could provide the energy and catalytic forward-ho we need to get this job done."

The psychic cacophony of pain and jubilance and chaos and sweetness and disappointment and love will be pushed to a head at the Full Moon total lunar eclipse at 14 degrees Libra on April 3/4.

The Libra Full Moon triggers the Uranus-Pluto square directly, as well, so the emotional edge we're experiencing now is really not going anywhere for the next few weeks. Enjoy any moments of reprieve while they last. The Moon in Libra will form a square to Pluto in Capricorn and an opposition to Uranus in Aries just after the opposition to the Aries Sun marks the Full Moon on April 4 (2:31 a.m.).

We are officially operating within "new era" relationship themes as of that Libra eclipse, so expect some relational detritus to be flying off at a pretty rapid rate around that time. Things will be "getting real," as they say, during the first week of April, particularly in interpersonal relationships and social settings.

The emotional backdrop change we're moving through involves dropping the love and relational ideals of an era now past while embracing the exhilarating current moment that we are experiencing together - the only moment that exists.

Both the Sun and Mercury in Aries will trigger the Uranus-Pluto square yet again following the Libra Full Moon, and we have officially arrived. The changes are right in front of us now, permeating our minds and our current moments. We can't look away, and we can't go back again.

The Sun in Aries will move from Full Moon position into a square to Pluto in Capricorn April 5 (9:08 a.m.) and a conjunction to Uranus in Aries April 6 (8:08 a.m.). Messenger planet Mercury in Aries will follow shortly after, forming a square to Pluto in Capricorn April 7 (6:07 p.m.) and a conjunction to Uranus in Aries April 8 (6:20 a.m.). We can expect more turbulence here as people upset apple carts by moving in new and unexpected directions. During the first week of April, we are gaining the full awareness and perspective we need to continue breaking new era trail, but this is not without its challenges and difficulty.

The Sun and Mercury will follow all that intensity up with their own exterior conjunction at 19 degrees Aries on April 9 (10:00 p.m.).

These are some amazing times we're living through. Intense, difficult, painful but with immense potential that is only just beginning to unfold.

I'll see you all on the other side of it.
